Dan Rather Slams Katie Couric & CBS News

Featured Replies

Does Rather think that Couric needs to sprice up the news by fabricating or promoting unverified faked documents and passing it off as news??

He was just following the lead of the the leader of the free world.

I remember Katie asking a U.S. Marine "What do you feel when you shoot an Arab terrorist?" The Marine replied "A slight recoil."

Good journalism, Katie. Quality stuff.

:thumb: :thumb: and might I add a GREAT answer from the U.S. Marine, Katie is as liberal as they get, just like 99.9% of the mainstream media  .

The news anchor desk has a long history of field reporters that have been around the world reporting and actually know something about the countries, culture and people, religions and have a certain amount of credibility when they speak after being promoted to news anchor. Katie did none of this, she came from the morning show and knows nothing about the world she is giving reports about. This is the main reason people have a problem with her.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but don't you think that the 9 months on the job makes it a little too early to determine exactly how good a job she is really doing, or how respected she may or may not become?

Dan Rather anchored the CBS Evening News for 24 years.

Tom Brokaw anchored NBC's broadcast for 23 years and is still widely "regarded as the most popular news personality in the United States". Most liked him more than Mr. Rather or Mr. Jennings.

Peter Jennings anchored ABC's broadcast for 22 years.

Katie Couric deserves some leniency regarding the time she has spent learning the ins and outs of this position.

"Documents just drawn up in the outhouse behind Dan Rather's barn show that Katie Couric isn't better than me"

Enjoy retirement Kenneth....No one misses you.

All of the above spent paid their dues reporting in the field and earned credibility. About the 9 months thing it is all about ratings. CBS ratings have dropped to a new low and continue to slide. They are losing viewers, and as a result advertising dollars. They can not continue to slide much longer which is why most expect her to be let go before X-mas. It's just the business.

Exactly although he is trying to hang on doing a show on HD Net.

I'd "rather" watch Couric, than Dan....
