94 ford aspire.

I should know something today but, the bad news is I had to take it to the dealership and it cost a lot just to have them check it out. And there is no promise they will be able to find the problem if, they do my best friend said he will take care of it.

I will keep you all posted.

Cataylic Converter was the first thing the second shop checked.

The first shop put it a new fuel filter and that was not it.

Not exactly the same, its ok to use on vehicles with a carb and some of the EFI cars that do not have sophisticated EFI or performance motors BUT it will mess up some O2 sensors and knock sensors.

NCF, have them check the O2 sensors, mass air meter, and your fuel pump.

What kind of car is it?

Never had a problem EFI cars when I add the alcohol to them. Not into the performance motors though that may be a different thing.

Did they check the Module yet?

It could be a lot of differnt things

I have a 93 ford and it has run funny like that a few different times. Here is what caused my problems over the years.

-dirty mass air flow sensor

-fried spark plug wire/distributor cap

-bad throttle positon sensor

Did they check the gas tank to see if there was any rust in the tank, it might be sucking up something that is stopping the gas flow.

Some it will not mess up, on my first 4.6 Mustang it killed the knock sensors and O2 sensors the first time I done it.

They had one hour paid for to find the problem they used three(two at no charge) and they THINK I SAID THINK the problems COULD BE 1-A heir line fracture in the distributor cap 2-A Censor is bad they will let me know which one when I pick the car up.

My friend will replace both of those parts and we will go from there.

I thought cracked distributor cap also. Either way, both are easy fixes.

That's what he said.

Put a tool in my hand amd I become evenmore stupid then I usually am.

NCF, your problem is that you have either one or two injectors sticking. When the engine is cold they are closed and staying closed until the engine block warms up. When the metal expands after running a little while they release. Did your engine temp light ever come on months ago? Overheating engines will break down the seals. Sticking fuel injectors are your problem and the reason it's so hard to find the problem is because by the time you check them the engines warms up enough for them to release.

No the engine light has never come on.

The only problem the dealership found was a hairline crack in the dist. cap.

That is under warranty from another shop and I have called them to let them know I have the papers saying they put on a brand new one only a couple of weeks ago.

I will ask about the injectors thanks for the heads up.
