Kentucky Royals??????

Featured Replies

The Royals won out at Panel Barn Field 4-1 last night... Jake Robinson goes the distance for the win. The Panel Barn team was unable to catch up with his fastball at all last night. Mike Cunningham. Jake Martin and Conner Larkin all get RBI hits late in the game to secure the win. The Panel Barn pitcher didn't have a great fastball (he located well) and he threw a decent curve, but he got at least 10 ground outs the first 4 innings. That young man pitched a solid game.

On a side note, I heard that the Cincinnati Sharks ended up winning the Great Midwest Classic beating the Akron team in the finals.

Royals go 4-1 in the Lance Moore Tourney in Lafayette Ind. They beat teams that are very good including the Indiana Bulls, Rawlings Elite from St. Louis(run ruled),and two other teams from Ind. and Ill. Only loss came to an Ill. team which the Royals had led going into the 7th. 6-5, but let it slip away.Great complete game wins by Luke Bray, Jake Robinson and Travis Hurd. Royals are 9-2 in their 11 and are playing as good as anybody right now.

Enjoyed watching the Kentucky Royals beat the Lake Michigan Breakers by a score of 4-3 Sarturday morning at Wabash College. Nice seeing Sky and Lark play again. Looking forward to the watching the games on my birthday between the Colonels and Royals....

Great tournament for the Royals... I agree f or f, these boys have really come together as a team. The turnaround in the last dozen games is impressive and a major part of that has been the pitching. The Royals have been hitting well all summer, but early on the pitchers were having trouble throwing strikes on a consistent basis which lead to some bad loses. During the Lance Moore the Royals pitchers had a total of 23 scoreless innings out of a total of 33 played. Luke Bray (5, solid tournament) Travis Hurd (6, overpowering gutsy performance) Lake Robinson (5, cruise control) Joe Renda (4, in relief) Zach Rawlings (3, always competing to his fullest) against some really excellent teams. The Royals scored 29 runs in the first two games with everybody hitting in the line-up. Hitting stand outs for the tournament were Conner Larkin (I think he hit like .600, going 5 for 6 in the second game) Skylar Stein (6 hits first two games including a triple, 3 doubles) Jake Martin (a ton of timely singles) Josh Brown (continues to tear the cover off the ball)

I hope they continue to build on the solid ball they are playing.

It was nice to see some players and parents from both the Royals and Colonels going to cheer each other on during their free time. Lots of friends on each of these teams.

The Royals win again yesterday beating Patterson Park 8-4 with a solid pitching performance from Kyle Houlihan and a couple of big hitting innings. The Royals second game against Com Air was cancelled due to a Thunderstorm rolling in.

Does anyone know how the Royals did against Midland on Friday?

Great to hear that Kyle is back on the mound. Truely sad, that in his senior year at CovCath. he didn't get to pitch a single inning of baseball.

Looking forward to today's (July 8th 1pm & 3pm) DH game at NKU between the Colonles and the Royals, we be rooting hard for both sides....

They lost 8-0, playing a very poor game. Luke Bray didn't have his usual good stuff (walked a bunch) and the Royals left six runners in scoring position the first 3 innings. The pitcher from Midland was throwing in the high 80's with a good slider (I am sure he is going D1 somewhere) and after we let him of the hook in the first few innings he settled down and pitched very well. It's not like they hit our pitchers hard or alot, they got some timely hits after walks and that's how they got their runs (6 of their 8 runs were in the first 3 innings).

Midlands pitcher was clocked from the Angels scout that was there as throwing 91-93. Was told he is going to Notre Dame.

Correct. They also have 2 pitchers on their roster going to Arizona State. I believe all 3 are from Illinois.

The Royals get back on the winning track by beating Elite Sports from Cinncinnati 13-8. This win was a bit scratchy, but a win none the less. Renda struggled early with the start and Rawlings finished real strong to get the win. Overall the Royals hit the ball well with some solid shots from Hurd, Brown, Larkin, Robinson, and Taylor (big two out hit later in the game). Now off to Nashville for the Sandlot World Series.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the Cincinnati Flames Tournament this weekend before Nashville next week.

Thanks for the update. Good luck to all the teams in Nashville!

The Royals finish 3rd in the Cincinnati Flames Tournament with a 3-2 record for the weekend.

Game 1 Royals lose to the Cincinnati Flames 5-2 with Luke Bray pitching a solid game. We didn't hit the ball particularly well and when we did the umpires took the bats out of our hands. I wasn't at this game but I heard that Skylar Stein clearly hits a home run down the line that gets us back in the game, only to be called foul.

Game 2 Royals run rule a team from Pennsylvania 8-0 behind a nice 1-hitter by Jake Robinson. Everybody plays and enjoys a good outing.

Game 3 They run rule Com-Air 11-3. Kyle Houlihan has another real good outing on the mound, everybody plays, hits, and fields the ball well. Randy Bulach hits 2 homeruns (first 2 and only at bats) to help secure the win early.

Game 4-Semi Final Royals lose to the Lexington Baseball Club 8-0. They faced a pitcher from Dunbar (didn't catch his name) and he keeps our boys in ckeck the whole game. Definitely one of the top pitchers I have seen this summer (good fastball/curve/change and threw all of them for strikes). Travis Hurd pitched well (made a couple of mistakes up with a big wind blowing out- I know one of these these was long fly out that got up in the wind to go out) so the score is not a good indication of his effort.

Game 5 Royals start slow but beat the Barrack's team (I believe they are from Dayton) 10-4 to finish in 3rd place for the tournament. Zach Rawlings pitches real well for the first 5 innings and Joe Renda comes in and closes them out (no hits) in the 6th and 7th. They break this one open in the middle to late innings with some timely hitting from a host of players.
