There you go again.

Make it four: Social conservative GOPers and Fiscal conservative GOPers have shown themselves to be just as different as mainstream Dems and hardcore liberals are from one another.

O.K. by me, make it 4,5 or however many you want so the liberals can explain away their spin on things. I know what I believe and I will vote accordingly. I don't know if I have ever voted a straight ticket anyway, maybe every now and then but I vote whoever that I think will do the best job regardless of party.

I can certainly see why a lot of bgp members don't post on this paticular forum. I doubt if I will return to it. I try and make my post in "general" type format w/o getting personal. I will try and refrain from anymore statements on here (P&R). I know what I believe and how I will vote and should know to keep it to myself. Politics is just not something that can be discussed. I should have listened to a very smart man many years ago when he said that there are 3 things that you should never talk about....Politics, Religion or another man's wife. That statement turns out to be true more often than not. I think that I have taken critisizm and joking around pretty well, just getting tired of all the "sensitive" types that think that everyone should agree with them.

One thing I can agree with Cindy Sheehan about is that the politicians have sold us all out.

The only thing I am "sensitive" about is your constant implication that all those who are Democrats are flaming liberals, and therefore socialists or communists. You have a bad tendency to pigeonhole; that's what I object to.

It seems to me that if you are going to stop posting in P&R just because I called you out that I'm not the only one being "sensitive."

For the last time now Schue, what I have been saying is not all of those who are Democrats are flaming liberals. What I was saying is that not all Democrats are flaming liberals, it just seems that the flaming liberals have taken over the parties leadership. In other words, there is imo a large pct. of Democrats that still believe in the basic values that the party was originally founded on and always stood for. This group of people actually despise what the party has become and what it's leaders stand for today. Now, whether you understand what I am saying or want to spin it again matters little to me, I am through with it.

I'd like to see the primaries and general election changed. In the primaries, you would vote for your favorite candidate, regardless of political party. then in the general election, the top two candidates would run against each other, again regardless of political party.

Pork barrel spending is what gets politicians elected, plain and simple. The Republicans do it. The Democrats do it. Voters tend to view "pork barrel projects" as those that are located outside of their districts. Spending located within the districts of the voters is "necessary" spending. This is why there is such intense competition amongst our elected officials to "bring home the bacon".

What is the answer? I don't know. Voters will continue to vote for the person whom they feel is most adept at bringing $ home to their districts. Robert Byrd is a perfect example of the power of pork barrel spending. Drive through WV sometime and you will notice that basically EVERYTHING in that state is named after him.

I do agree with many of the previous posts concerning the need for more political parties. However, the viability of any future new political party will probably depend on that parties' ability to "bring home the bacon" same as the current parties in power.

I couldn't agree more, if there was ever a posterchild for term limits, he's it. Complete horses rearend (my sincerest apologies to any horses logged on) and he personifies what Jim Schue is opposed to and frankly what OldRambler despises about the Dems. How has that guy avoided death for so long? Oh, wait, there are numerous health care facilities throught out the state of WV with his moniker on them.:irked:
