It's not like it's an insult to be associated with one of the most beloved TV shows of all time. They act like being associated with "The Simpsons" is on par with hosting a porn convention. If I were Groening, I would send out a press release saying, "Don't worry, Springfield, Minnesota. It's not your loser town."

Believe it or not, there are actually some people who don't care for the Simpsons. I really don't think the folks from Springfield are going to give a hoot about what some guy from Hollywood says about them. According to Google, the population of Springfield, MN is around 2200. The city leader is quoted as saying "We're a close, tight knit community." It sounds to me that the town of Springfield, MN doesn't care a whole lot for the Simpsons, or some of the things the show seems to be about. I don't have a problem with that, and I don't understand why people care one way or the other what the town folk decided.

It sounds to me that the town of Springfield, MN doesn't care a whole lot for the Simpsons, or some of the things the show seems to be about. I don't have a problem with that, and I don't understand why people care one way or the other what the town folk decided. I simply find it a ridiculous concept that they'd speak out to deny their associations with the television show, because that's OBVIOUS (I mean, it's an animated series). I don't think most people care at all about the town's decision, and they probably really want to get attention by speaking out against such a popular show. But indeed, it's not important. What's important is that The Simpsons Movie has GOT to be the greatest thing to hit the big screen or else I'm going to be severely dissappointed.
