NKY sports CEO Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 After back to back years of not making it to the regional tournament, the breakdown against Scott in the District tournament, and several grumblings from many players on the Camels team should head coach Wayne Harringer be fired?
striker Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I don't know if he should be fired, but I have heard several CCHS players upset with the way he does things... Maybe a CCHS guy like Old Soda or Fair or Foul can fill us in...
STRIKE3 Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 They were 18-13 and when your in a Region, with Harrison Co., GRC, Montgomery County and others, not always easy. At the same time, no idea what the rumbling are but when the players think they know more than the coach, you're perhaps not considering the real problem, the players and those around them.
BaseballIsLife Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 There was never a "breakdown" against Scott in districts at all. Scott was just the better team and they have proven that during the season and post-season.

Scott was just the better team and they have proven that during the season and post-season. They gave up a three run lead in both the 6th and 8th innings. Scott had one hit in each of the two innings. That isn't the coach's fault (walks) but it is a breakdown.
Old Soda Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Seems some players don't care for discipline maybe thats why they grumble. Camels have won two district titles and made it to the regional finals in 2005 and won 19 games this year. Some breakdown. By the way, the Camels beat Brossart for their two district titles and Brossart has won the last two so I'd say their pretty even. And his name is Heringer not Harringer by the way......

cowboyway Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Seems the program has a problem with keeping seniors over talent. They don't elevate freshman when the players are good enough. Hard to build a program that way.
Old Soda Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 The JV team when 19-8 and the Freshmen were 14-4 and the Varsity was 19-13. Sure sounds like a program going the wrong way. There is quite a bit of difference in Freshman ball and JV and Varsity Ball. Very few freshman play Varsity Ball and make an impact. If they can play everyday and gain experience, why put them on the upper level and have them not get to play everyday. Seems me, me, me in today's world instead of team team team could be part of the supposed problem.
cowboyway Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 The reason for moving an underclassman up is to play him everyday so he can gain experience. Records seem to be good, but with a few changes the camels would probably be playing next week with a good shot at the regional title. What were the camels quality wins this year?

For the record, they only played one (GRC) of those named and IMO only played three decent 10th region teams (GRC, Brossart and Scott); and went 0-4 against them!! While 18-13 is a decent record, their schedule wasn't the toughest, especially for the largest school in the region? Their problem in baseball seems to be the same as in many other sports--They don't seem to develop the boatloads of talent they have year in, year out. They consistantly have outstanding younger teams (middle school, frosh & JV) but they seldom develop into dominating Varsity squads?? Recently football may be an exception, but that program's been woeful until the last year or two. Not sure what the problems are, but with the resources, facilities and talent pools they've got to work with; you'd have to say they consistantly underachieve!! Back to the original question--NO he shouldn't be fired!! Baseball has been one of the better programs the last several years??

I'd say CovCath, Holy Cross, and maybe Bourbon twice were their best wins!!
Old Soda Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Camels scheduled included several other quality opponents but rainouts had a lot to do with who they play. Their record against the top teams in the region the last few years has been about .500. 4-3 against the Mustangs, 2-3 against Harrison. They lost to Clark this year 2-1 so I wouldn't exactly say they've been playing an easy schedule. The Harrison game was rained out at Harrison and a Tournament at Taylor Co. that included Eastern, Taylor Co. and Central Hardin was also cancelled. Lexington Christian beat them 12-10. If you check the Canel schedule out for the last few seasons they play a very competitive schedule.
