April 27, 200719 yr To me, the "viewpoints" of the party rarely matter. The Dems seem to be targeting a younger audience today (environmental issues, freedom of the individual, anti-war, ect.) and the Repubs seem to be targeting the older people (anti-abortion, pro-war, ect.)
April 27, 200719 yr I hope that is in jest.....It should be taken just as seriously as any of the sweeping statements made in this thread.:thumb:
April 27, 200719 yr Who was it in the Democratic debate the other night that said people on welfare shouldn't have to be able to pass a drug test in order to get their welfare check. That about made my jaw drop, I have to lead a good life and work for what I've got while someone taking our tax dollars doesn't have to follow the same rules.
April 28, 200719 yr Myself being only 20, I can't say whether this statement tends to be true or not..... "If you're in your 20's and Conservative you have no heart, over 40 and Liberal you have no brain." Now in no way am I trying to take any types of shot at anyone who is liberal or conservative. I'm wondering if those of you who are of a different generation than me, feel there is any truth to this statement, by that I mean, as you've gotten older have you found yourself becoming more conservative, or vice versa. I am nearly a half century old but for as long as I can remember---at least since I've been in the work force I resented having my hard earned cash given away to able bodied people who refused to get a job. I have always deplored murder (which is what abortion is) and I think the less government has to do with nosing in our business the better. I'd say I've always been conservative . . . Guess I've always been wise !
April 28, 200719 yr As you move up the ladder, make more money and the left wants to take it from you and give it to lazy bums that live off of the system (you and I), you may find yourself starting to lean to the right. So don't be glum, there's still hope for you. :thumb: Preach it brother!:thumb:

While much of your post I agree with I would like to mention that there are MANY of the younger generation who are anti-abortion . . . they are seeing the lies that the left have fed them for years (Glob of tissue, calling the unborn a fetus and not a baby . . . ) Technology has brought the stark reality of the fact that the woman is carrying another life . . . a human being, not just a piece of tissue. This technology has revealed this at earlier and earlier stages . . . that is why the liberal left are terrified of women using this new technology . . . the pictures won't lie.

This technology has revealed this at earlier and earlier stages . . . that is why the liberal left are terrified of women using this new technology . . . the pictures won't lie. So what about a morning after pill? Is that abortion? And will any picture ever reveal that to be abortion? At what point does it become a baby and not tissue? At some point it's just tissue, and I think there's no debate to that besides a religious one. About 20% of all diagnosed pregnancies end in first trimester spontaneous abortion (miscarriage.) Doctors estimate that roughly an equal number occur without the woman even knowing she was pregnant. Are we to mourn all these occurances as if a child has died? Our society would be paralyzed if we did. At some point, you're devaluing real children (and, yes, in my opinion, late-term fetuses) by equating them equally with a zygote. I find it curious that we see a campaign devoted to ban 'partial birth abortion.' Personally, I'm totally opposed to it, but you know what else I'm not in favor of which is not nationally banned? Ice-pick lobotomies, which to me is the absolutely most gruesome medical procedure ever conceived. How can we not get rid of lobotomies (some states have,) but have a debate about ANY OTHER PROCEDURE? This needs to be at the front of the line. If we can keep ice-pick lobotomies legal against the improbable chance that someone might medically benefit from one, I can't imagine banning any other procedure. Just something I think about sometimes.
April 28, 200719 yr Author ^Actually I've read where like 6 weeks after conception the unborn fetus can feel pain and recognizes it's mother's voice....If that's not a human life than I guess you and me aren't alive either...

April 28, 200719 yr As far as pain goes, there is absoultely no consensus on when that starts. A very small group argues that it's around 7 weeks, the largest consensus is around 26 weeks, and another small group believes it isn't until VERY late in the pregnancy. Some very prominent neuroscientists and psychologists argue that we can't have the subjectivity for the sensation of pain, even if the neural network is viable to experience it, until after birth.

But the Paritial Birth Abortion proponents all say that the baby feels no pain when they stick the scissors in the back of the baby's head and vaccuum it's brains out. And every single Democrat presidential candidate was against banning the procedure. Maybe the DNC needs to become the party of the real defenseless and trodden instead of just those who want to have a pity pary for themselves on the government tab.
April 28, 200719 yr I really don't know a single 'proponent' of partial birth abortions. Like I said, if we can't agree to ban ice pick lobotomies, how can we agree to ban 3rd trimester abortions?

April 28, 200719 yr Maybe I missed something, but lobotomies have been banned since the 70's.Nope. 15 were performed at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Boston between 1980 and 1986. Psychosurgery is now frowned upon, but it's still legal (in most states.)
