A techincal should have been called on Shelby Co. for wearing those ugly uniforms. :scared: :scared:

I used to dig those unis. Add in Holmes with their candy-striped warmup pants and you've got two good-looking teams.

Both George and Doug were great basketball players. It's a shame both of their careers ended the same way.

But as TOG said, it taught them life lessons and made them very successful. Education does last a lifetime.

As someone who's had the opportunity to talk to Doug frequently, I assure you he's a much better guy than basketball player (at least post-playing career ;)). Great family.

You can't help but feel sorry for the Holmes players and fans. How could referees miss that? It's so obvious.

One of the referees that missed the call ended up being a client of Doug's. So naturally the topic came up. He told Doug that he was so worried about missing body contact on the shot that he didn't look up until after the "block". I'm not sure which ref it was, but he said that he was the one that missed the call. He told Doug that the other ref was responsible for the foul and that they both were looking for the same thing. He mentioned that he had seen the photo a million times, but he couldn't call it b/c he didn't see it when it happened.

Latch your exactly right about what the referee said to doug. Still to the day, he denies the goaltending call. It's ashame that both schloemers had to lose the way they did in the state championship.
