What does Trimble County need to do to improve in 2007? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

The Raiders are primed for another good year. They only lost 6 seniors to graduation. They return star RB David Bird, as well as strong defensive players such as Justin Hawkes and Corey Jones.

 

One area that the Raiders will need to concentrate on include the QB position (Maldonado graduated). The player that Coach Poynter has put in this position (Ball) is one of the best leaders on the team.

 

Look for big things from the Raiders this year.

Trimble Co. looks like a up and coming program in the state this year. With coach Poynter running the show the Raiders will always be better then the year before. Good luck to the Raiders this fall.

The Raiders have been in the weight room since the day that they have turned in there pads. The numbers are up to over 40, with 14 seniors and 15 incoming 9th graders.

 

They lost 6 seniors that played 4 off pos. and 4 def pos. So they return 14 starting pos.

 

QB will be the key position to replace (but Jon Ball is a very hard worker, throws the ball well, and also very strong 285 bench, 260 clean and 350 squat) The entire raider team is getting very strong. Leed by 5'10 280lb. FB Corey Jones 350 bench 300lb. clean 475 squat.

 

Look for the Raiders to be very big and physical. Running game should be good with David Bird, Justin Hawkes, Jesse Peters, Jon Ball, Corey Jones, and newcomer Larry Sullivan.

 

Can be a good year in Bedford if everyone stays healthy.:sssh:

Need to find a replacement for the QB as previously stated and imo the big wide receiver (Jennings) was a senior also. He forced defense to be honest and not crowd the line too much. A good core group coming back it appears, and a very good running back obviously.

Well, Buckett, they will have to get by Frankfort first...and, according to another thread Bracken Co. will give them fits.

 

Honestly, most will see the top two spots going to Frankfort and Trimble, but we will have to see when the season actually starts who is the frontrunner. However, the Gallatin Co program is developing quite well and in my experience, you should never count a Gallatin Co athletic team out.

Buckett must be confused, Frankfort has all most everyone returning, with EJ Fields who has been offered several D-1 offers. Look for the Panthers to be in the pizza box.

I do not think that David Bird has gotten any worse. If anything he has gotten better, he is now playing with alot of confidence and has gotten bigger, faster , and stronger. He is now benching 305, squatting 450, and power cleaning 285. He weighes 202 and is running a 4.5. I look for him to be a little better than last year.

 

The Raiders lost 5 seniors and have 15 9th graders coming in, so look for their numbers to be up around 40-45. Also have a few kids that did not play last year coming out. Have a transfer from Louisville that will take Jennings place at WR/CB. John Ball will play QB, he has worked hard in spring practice and is a very tough young man.

I know lots of people that absolutely love to watch Bird play - I am one of them. He is not afraid of anyone...he physically punishes people for tackling him. Most teams cannot stop him...they can only hope to contain him.

 

The Saturday heat was a big factor last year...the Raiders did not really play well defensively, in particular. However, this year's game is played on a Friday night in September, so that aspect should be better. I do absolutely love Gallatin's field though. Once they get their pressbox and lights up, is will be the best field in the district.

 

Tall Trees, I think that Coach Poynter would remind you that Trimble lost 6 kids this year. A big loss that I think some people are overlooking is Bryan Dancer. He led the team in tackles...that having played two fewer games than most (out for one game due to bruised lung, one game due to death in the family). He is a junior this year, but will be too old to play next year.
