April 5, 200719 yr This story appeared in today's Huntington Herald Dispatch. Patterson said he did not have time to meet with Donovan on Wednesday because the Florida coach didn't arrive until after Patterson left for the Bluegrass Airport in Lexington to fly to Memphis. But Patterson said he spoke with Florida assistant Donnie Jones, a candidate for the Marshall head coaching job, and Jones told him Donovan was staying at Florida. The rest of the story I will believe Billy is staying when I hear it from his mouth.
April 5, 200719 yr Patterson will play at Cameron IMO.....regardless of Billy D.'s decision. You may well be right...If he does, Duke could be scary good in the next few years...If he comes to UK, he'll most likely have more immediate playing time and will definately help UKs cause, but, IMO, they'll still be a couple of solid recruiting classes away from being back to an elite level..
April 5, 200719 yr Have you ever been recruited by Donovan? If not, I'll go with the guy that has. Teenagers never misconstrue things. To say that Donavan told him he would never[/b ]leave Florida seems a little farfetched to me.
April 5, 200719 yr When Patterson signs for 4 years at a college is he going to stay the 4 years or leave after one or two? I agree with this guy. Like it or not, sports are a business. The elite players in the country very rarely stay past their sophomore year. Why should it be different for the elite coaches ? Not saying UK is a better place for Donovan, but it shouldnt be a question of his character if he thinks UK is a better fit and decides to take the job.
April 5, 200719 yr I thought there was a dead period that did not end until today and coaches were not allowed to have any contact with recruits. You are correct........in fact this was mentioned in todays Herald Leader: http://www.kentucky.com/179/story/34703.html
