So many Tubby fans have blinders on and cannot realize there are many good coaches out there who are not named Orlando Tubby Smith. Im not saying it should be Crean, but he recruits, develops, gets the most from his players, and plays an exciting brand of basketball. He has shaped Marquette of all places into a BEAST contender, so why can he not be a good fit at Kentucky? I am a Tubby fan also, but Tubby has done more than have ONE season with a post-season win! One year that Crean won in the NCAA tournament. If they hire him, 10 years down the road Tubby will look like a genius!

March 23, 200719 yr The athletic director is from the northwest, the football coach is from the northwest and I would be less than shocked to see the next UK basketball coach be from there as well. Mark Few is a very good coach, gets maximum effort from his players and would be a much better fit than Crean.

March 23, 200719 yr I wouldn't have a problem with hiring Crean. I gather from reading previous posts that not many have been to Marquette. I have been there and believe me, there is nothing there. For him to have been as successful as he has been is an accomplishment. I have to think he must be a very good recruiter to have kept the program at Marquette in the national scene year in and year out.

He is recruiting well in the middle of "College Basketball Nowhere" Heard a comment that he has brought in some recruits to Gonzaga that academically couldn't get in to some of the other schools in Gonzaga's conference. The lower academic standards at Gonzaga gives him an advantage over the teams he has to compete against.
