I would want my husband to continue on if I was in this situation.

That means that if he were to be elected, it is likely that his wife would die during or near the end of his first term. I'm sorry, but I think I would rather spend that time with my wife than dealing with national problems. It could make him ineffective as president.
I agree with you, would be mighty hard to stay focused.

I think he should drop out and spend what time they may have left together. I know it's what I would do if I was in his shoes.

I am not disagreeing with you at all but how long would he have to spend with her? Would it be one year, two years, ten years? I don't think they know at this point. Why would anyone put their lives on hold without knowing exactly what to expect? I wouldn't want my life to come to a standstill and nor would I want MrRk to give up his life to just sit and watch me. I would want to continue on with my life for as long as I could. This, is in no way, a reflection on anyone who has said that they would not run if they were in his position. I just strongly feel that each couple has to make the decision that is best for them and I can't ,nor should I, step inside their heads and tell them that they have made a mistake with their decision. I do think that if it comes down to that Elizabeth needs him, then he will be there for her at all times. I can't even come up with the words that would tell this couple and every couple who is going through this, or has gone through it, just how much I respect and admire their courage.

I get what you're saying, but for me, my love for my wife would supersede my career, regardless if she told me to continue with it.

This is sad news....

On a side note, I've heard more than a couple people say they would vote for him for president because they feel badly for him....How scary is that?

The guy doesn't have a snowball's chance of being elected. He won't win South Carolina and he will be done. Edwards is phoney even by politician standards, he does have nice hair though.

I so admire you for your feelings and I do know that you mean what you say with your whole heart. Please don't get me wrong, MrRk is the love of my life and I do know that he loves me above all others. That being said, I know without a doubt that he would be beside me at all times if this happens. Heck fire he has stood beside me in recent years with a few "unknown to us the reason" problems and he will continue to do so. I just would never want him to give up his whole life for me. I couldn't even imagine me sitting around waiting and I sure wouldn't want him to.

We received news yesterday that my last living Uncle has been given 4-8 weeks (he has cancer). This news makes my heart hurt and even though he is as sick as anyone I've ever seen, he has not stopped living his life.

I suppose what I am trying to say, is I just can't see anyone who would want their whole life stopped. I just feel that you can be supportive, loving and caring without putting a stop to your life.

Her scenario and my mom's are not all that different right now.

I'm sorry to hear that. My wife went through all this a few years ago with her dad, her aunt, her mom and then her other aunt, all in the span of about three and a half years. Such a horrible disease, cancer.

My mom is a strong woman...the DR's have told her that they can't cure her cancer, but she could live for a very long time with the treatment plans they have for her. She had breast cancer in 1989, had a masectomy (sp?), and a reconstruction..then in 2002 the cancer came back in her spine, and in her hip....she's still going well...she is here visiting right now.

God bless her, I wish her all the best!

May God bless both you and your mother and may he keep his loving arms around each of you.
