Montgomery Co. 66 Mason Co. 63

The atmosphere was great tonight. One of the best girl's games I have witnessed. The crowds on both sides of the gym were loud and talked to a Lady Royal after the game and she said she couldn't hear a thing but screaming. Good luck to the Lady Indians at Diddle and congrats to the Lady Royals on an exceptional season.

This may have been the best week of girls basketball in recent memory. L.C. vs Scott Co., L.C. vs LCA (Twice), LCA vs Henry Clay, Montgomery Co. vs Mason Co. (What a game and atomosphere), Rose Hill vs Russell. This was an unbelieveable week for girls basketball in the state and if you weren't at Montgomery Co. last night you missed an instant classic. When I hear the final numbers I'll try to relay them to everyone as far as the attendance for that game. Didn't you get a sense you were watching Duke and KY all over again? Wow!:fight:

How many people were there, I went and it was packed. I would say that 1000 more could have comfortably fit.

I am not sure about the numbers but I would say that you are about right. There was a little room in the upper level of the endzone and around the top tier of Mason Co. side of the court. Either way every single person in the gym was completely engaged down the stretch in one of the most unbelieveable emotional rollercoasters I've ever witnessed.

Here's what I've got as an unofficial box for now. I ran into a mix up so a couple of Mason's individuals may be off by a point or two but it should be accurate for the most part.

Mason County 14 12 16 21 - 63

Montgomery County 14 17 17 18 - 66

Mason: Cline 8 3-4 21, D.Chambers 8 1-1 19, T.Chambers 2 5-6 9, Litzinger 4 0-0 9, Reese 1 0-0 3, Menke 1 0-0 2. Totals 24 9-11 63.

Montgomery: Prewitt 8 5-6 23, Lee 3 5-6 12, High 3 0-0 9, Danis 2 2-2 6, Thomas 3 0-0 6, Colliver 3 1-2 7, Barnard 1 0-0 3. Totals 23 13-16 66.

Three-pointers: Mason 6 (D.Chambers 2, Cline 2, Litzinger, Reese), Montgomery 7 (High 3, Prewitt 2, Lee, Barnard).

Cline had 19.

Cline had 19.

Cline did have 21 for what it is worth. I thought that is what it was and that is the only way the score adds up.

Sorry, I just heard the announcer Sat. night say that her and D. Chambers both had 19, so I just assumed it.

I was most impressed how after the game each side supported and clapped while the others received their hardware. Nice class and sportsmanship on both sides.

Maybe the fans have caught on to what the khsaa has been emphasizing for 2 years??

I also noticed this. Montgomery Co.'s fans gave Mason's girls a standing ovation as they recieved their trophies and Mason returned the gesture as Montgomery recieved theres. I think this was a good crowd showing their appreciation for great basketball. I'm not sure how much the tickets were but it had to be a bargain for this game the way it played it, amazing to say the least. Both teams played their hearts out and everyone of those girls deserved the ovations that they recieved win or lose.

Another tough loss for the junior class of Mason County. Seems Coach High and Montgomery County has Mason County and Coach Buser's number! It will be VERY interesting to see how Mason County fares next season!

I think Mason should be one of the top teams next year

Yes, but in order to be a strong contender next year, they will need to develop more players. They lose 3 seniors this year, 2 that started. Only 6 players got a lot of playing time, and 2 of those were seniors. They can't play just 4 kids next year... they will need to develop at least 2 or 3 more players. With an inexperienced bench [inexperienced because they have never got varsity action] I'm wondering how that will work out for them.

They have been one of the top teams in the region the last 3 years Mojo...

I know that. I was just making a statement

Better see what she has in the summer by playing some of those inexperienced kids
