Now it's time - Scott Co v/s Lex Cath predictions

Featured Replies

There was a premature thread about this one, but now that its official...

Two titans of hoops square off in the semi-finals of the 11th region tournament Saturday at 1pm @ EKU.

Scott Co. escaped with a win at Lex Cath - Walls was huge coming back after having to leave the game with a bloody gash next to his eye.

What are your thoughts?

It all depends on how close the game is called. If it is callled close, the SC inside players could be in trouble trying to stop Novosel. If not, the SC guards could create a lot of Catholic turnovers for easy buckets, very important in a gym that doesn't seem to favor outside shots. Catholic did a good job stopping drives and turnovers last game but SC had the good outside game. I don't see many threes falling this Saturday, so it should be more of a inside/transition game. It will be interesting to see how well Walls shoots in this gym. I don't see Scott winning without a good game from him. Novosel will need help from Stewart and company for Catholic to have a chance. Catholic will need to take care of the ball like they did against Tates Creek and not try to force things like they did in most of their losses this year. Catholic in a squeaker, recognizing I have a slight bias.

This matchup has become a classic rivalry.

LexCath proved they could compete with Scott Co. last time they met on Catholic's home floor. Yoda is correct about Walls making the big plays down the stretch in that one. IMO that game could have gone either way.

Also I get the sense after reading post game threads last time, these two programs really don't like each other very much.

This game should be an all out war!!!!!!!

I hope Walls shoots it good in this gym - he might be there the next 4 years raining jumpers...

I agree with knightsdad that style of officiating will have a great impact on this game. If they call fouls when Novosel goes to the basket from his post position yet don't when Mackey drives from the perimeter - my Cards could be in trouble. If they let SC hand check and be physical in the full court pressure but don't let Catholic's post players bump and push - SC should be in good shape. Hopefully there will be three good ones there to let the players decide this game.

That is a true statement... and the feeling is definitely mutual.

Scott Co. 77-70.

I saw EKU's coach up there last night as well as someone from James Madison. And Apparently William and Mary has shown a lot of interset in Matt.

Scott rolls by 15 ... at least I hope so.

From one LC parent. I have tons of respect for Scott County. The ONLY thing that gets on my last nerve....if SC loses or if they win...the refereeing was in the other team's favor. We all need to get off of that and accept the referees as a variable of the game.

I think there is a lot of respect for the programs - both ways, but there is no fondness between the two - it's a pretty heated rivalry... which I think is great. In this world of inclusion and acceptance - we all need a good rivalry where anger and distrust push us to a higher level of achievement... deep thoughts by YODA.
