Elliott Co. 64 Boyd Co. 49

Featured Replies

Ferguson shooting woes were possibly due to missing practice all week with the flu as well as a very physical defense played by Boyd in the 1st half. I think the offensive problems in the first half were due partially to jitters, partially to playing in the large gym with open spaces behind the goals, and partially to the defenses being very physical.

What about the defensive game Elliotts # 5 John Morgan played against Selby! Giving up 75 pounds or more to Selby ! He just simply battled him. Gutsy job but young # 5 !

I'd say he was giving up more than 75 pounds.

Go ask Bonner & Euton about guarding him straight up they are slightly bigger than #5.

Don't know nothing bout B&E guarding him, but I do know #5 guarded him both game's against Elliott. He(Selby) scored 18 both game's combined. I'd say that's pretty good defense. Especially giving up 140lb's:D

Yea, and if we put the same guy on Ferguson again he will shoot (5-17). What I am saying, the defense on Selby probably had more to do with pressure on the entry passes than the actual defense by a guy that much smaller than him. Selby has had a lot of success with people guarding him much bigger than that young man.

Unless you are #5, then there is probably no reason to keep boasting on it. Anyone at the game knows that Selby was at least Double teamed at any point, sometimes triple teamed.

Also, #5 was reaching over on every dump down pass and Pratt finally decided to work with Selby on that with about 6 minutes to go in the game, and he got 2 quick calls after that on #5. Obviously someone should have worked with Selby on that earlier.

Dont get me wrong either, #5 played a great game. Anyone that bangs with Selby inside for a whole game deserves some props, but lets be honest it was the double teaming that shut him down.:thumb:

Being that you want to get smart about it, bottom line is, all the Boyd supporter's "boasted" that Elliott would have "NO ANSWER" for Selby. They did, and they moved on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
