St. Henry 68 Lloyd 59

It was a great game to watch for round II of the battle of Erlanger. I believe St. Henry won by 25+ the first meeting. Very physical from the get go. The referees were too inconsistent, which hurt both teams at times. This was a great turnaround for Lloyd who only won 8 games or so last season. Brandon Lenhof of St. Henry scored his 1,000th career point on a free throw tonight. I believe he finished the game with 20+ points. Josh Craddock and Charles Johnson were the leading scorers for Lloyd. Good luck to the Crusaders against Holmes, and congrats to Coach Mike Key and the Juggernauts for putting themselves back on the map. :thumb:

Better game than I expected. Congrats to the Cru and it's good too see an influx of young talent back in the Lloyd program...

I think its ok to say St. Henry was pretty much going through the motions in this game. How can you blame them when you beat Lloyd earlier by 35 or so.

Hopefully senior forward Michael Rechtin gets his back better real quick, because the Cru is going to need him vs Holmes.

Weak. This isn't the regular season. No excuse for being out hustled by an inferior team in a Region game...

Out hustled? Are you kidding? St. Henry was diving for balls the whole game. They never stopped playing hard, they even had two guys leave the game with injuries due to hustle.

The reason Lloyd kept his game close was because they never quit like the did early in the season and they made their free throws. I believe they were 21-25 or something like that. St. Henry had to play without Rechtin and Keubbing and Lenhof were in foul trouble.

The Crusaders didn't play well, but they did still play hard.

With a coach like Faust I can't see St. Henry being out hustled.

So, were they hustling or just going through the motions?

Maybe "going through the motions" wasn't the best way to describe how they were playing. I should have said they weren't as focused as they should have been for a regional tourny game. But when you defeat an oppent by 35 early in the season and you know the team is inferior to you, that happens.

St. Henry turned the ballover to much, missed FT's, missed easy shots. They did not play like they had been.

Now you're making sense. ;)

you can't make excuses for this. It's the post season, you play hard all the time, no matter what. Lloyd wanted to win. Earlier in the season they seemed to think they couldn't win. PLaying within 6 points of Dixie in the district finals made them believe. The Lloyd players played hard, so please don't take that away from them by making excuses as to why a team couldn't beat them by 35 this time.

Its not an excuse. I'm just analyzing why it was closer. If you read my previous posts I have said Lloyd kept it close because of a few different reasons. 1 of them being that they never gave up, like they did the first time.

I can find plenty of reasons to blame them, if what you say is true.

You've got 9 seniors.

You've got 1 of them scoring his 1,000th point.

You're playing in the regional tournament.

Give me a break. That's why St. Henry won't win the 9th region.

St. Henry is very well coached. Their cuts to the basket for open layups were very impressive. Their guards use the bounce pass which I was starting to think was a lost art. They will be an interesting matchup for Holmes as Holmes is foul prone and will reach in a lot. Overall, I think Holmes will be too much for them on the boards, but there will not be a blow out.
