LETS TALK ABOUT SOFTBALL!

I am excited as the middle school kicks off tonight at North vs N Pulaski. If it doesn't get rained out!

Former Boone Co. head coach Patti Oliverio is now an asst. at Ryle High .She should bring alot to the Lady Raiders team to help follow-up the state championship . I am sure Boone Co. would still like to have her at that school .

Interesting. Word is she thought long and hard about taking the NDA HC job but only if her daughter was interested in attending NDA down the road.

I'm guessing Ryle will be in solid shape with or without her. It obviously does not hurt their cause.

cshs81 ,

What teams do you think will do well this year . It seems like all the talk was other regions so I put it out there .Simon Kenton has the chance to do good this year also .

Ryle, Conner, Boone will be the top 3. I think Highlands returns a lot but I believe they lost their pitcher. They still have the big bopper behind the plate. Dixie has a strong pitcher and I think they were pretty young last year so they can and will be up there.

You can't bet against Ryle simply because of the player 40 feet away from home plate.

I am telling you now that a team everyone better watch out for the next few years is North Laurel. I know, .. no surprise as they are the all time winningest program in KY history. However, ... they are young (only 1 senior) and having seen the new style that 1st year Coach Shane Weaver is bringing to the Jags, accompanied with a brutal schedule (in and out of state against some of the best teams he can find), they may not win 30 games this season, but by the post season, they will be a contender. Mark it down. And with the young talent he has coming up the next several years, ... I think that Jimmy Durham (former coach and current NLHS principal) will look like a genius bringing in someone to continue their winning ways.

They are not the fastest team I have seen, ... but man do they have pitching (Sears, Taylor, Cobb, etc), and TONS of power. At least 4-5 girls have already gone yard in practice and their offseason program will have them in excellent shape for being in the hunt for another state title.

Is the girl from Illinois elligble? The Akins girl will also be a big addition.

always been an excellent program and Durham has always been a class act and good coach.

Not yet. Expected to get a ruling very soon. She is one heck of a ball player and a leader in the dugout which the Jags need. If she is ruled eligible (and I expect that she will be), she will give the Jags more senior leadership as there is only 1 other senior on the squad.

The Aikins girl is very solid. I am very impressed with what Coach Weaver is doing in his first year so far (at least from the offseason program and the practices I have seen so far). Durham found a dynamite replacement for himself. He was at the middle school games for a little while tonight if not the whole time as was Coach Weaver.

I think it will be GREAT for North Laurel to repeat their successes of the past-- anytime an EAST team does well----- it's good for all of us on this side of Ky.

I am looking forward to the first pitch. . . . .

What is everyones opinion on who will come out of their district? with the first team being the district winner.

37th - Brossart & Campbell

38th - Harrison & Nicholas

39th - Bracken & Mason

40th - Clark & Montgomery

Any thoughts?
