Why blame the Coach. The Coach can't make the free throws, the coach can't box-out on free throw. The coach can't dribble the ball for them. The coah can't make lay-ups for them. Does it matter that the raiders was up 2 with a few seconds to go. Did Jones miss the free throw, Did Jones not get the rebound?

The Raiders led the entire game, and it was only tied after a basket at the buzzer by Wayne sent it into overtime. From what I heard, it was still in his hands after the clock, but what can you do?

 

The calls and the balls bounced Wayne's way in the 4th... tough break for the Raiders. The main reason the Raiders lost this game was the fact that Coach Jones had them play a prevent offense and try to hold the ball the last five minutes. When you go out of your gameplan that had you up 12 points entering the 4th and 10 with five minutes to go, you lose. McCreary had costly turnovers from playing that way, and well... it cost them. Watts and Bartley missed some cruical free throws, but you can't hold it against them. McCreary didn't play their game when it mattered most and lost at the end... again. Whenever Wayne led by two in the overtime, a "turnover" and a foul gave them the three point lead. That "turnover" was completly wrong... The ball was kicked, but the ref never called it and then the foul on the Raiders. Nothing you can do but wait for next season. The McCreary fans were huge tonight, litteraly and figurativly.

This also sounds exactly like what Somerset has done during a few games this year! I personally hate the strategy of holding the ball. If you are shooting well enough to be up by a good margin of points then why not allow your kids to keep shooting the ball as long as they are getting decent looks. The more you score the more the opposing team has to. Holding onto the ball and committing turnovers does nothing for a team except swing momentum away from them and they stop scoring! Eventually end up losing the game!

Watts is special and the Raiders will have really good teams the next several years. Sometimes coaches draw the perfect play and kids do not execute. Rob jones has done a good job and he was the guy who lead his team to the lead. Woods is an excellant coach and has beat some good coaches over the years (ask Steve Wright). There is no shame in getting beat by Coach Woods. Is the Wright kid Arthur's boy?

I really wasn't saying that Jones cost McCreary the game... but his gameplan of holding the ball was questionable. When McCreary played their game, they could easily beat Wayne, but the gameplan of holding the ball cost them. McCreary should contend next year, and be very competitive years to come.

Yes, he is Arthur's son. He can handle the ball well and is really developing a nice little jump shot.

I just couldn't figure out that if it was you, why was he saying that. By the way, I totally agree that, while coach Jones has done a good job this year, I think he tried to milk the clock too early.
