Yet while maintaing his level of success he has managed to bring the top college basketball program in the nation down to an average team. About discipline, I recall Tubby having more off-court issues than Rick Pitino ever had. hen on the fact that he won a national championship just makes me laugh because anyone in America could've coached that team to a championship. And yes you are right about being displeased with him since the day he was hired, because UK basketball used to be something to be proud of, something that the people of Kentucky had to hang their hat on. Now we are, just as I said above, we are average. Tubby may be a classy individual, and I am in no way judging him as a person, I am just saying that he is not the right person to be coaching the University of Kentucky, never was and never will be.:thumb:

You act like that was one of the best teams in college history. I don't think there were very many that year predicting UK to win the title.

On the bolded, there was a stat about a month back that only Duke and Illinois has won as many games over the past 5-6 years as UK.

and to add to that from a post in another thread.....

In the past five NCAA Tournaments, Duke has advanced past the round of 16 one time.

Kentucky has done it twice.

For all the static about Tubby and 10-loss seasons, Indiana -- which currently stands 18-9 -- has lost 10 games in a season every year but one (2000) since 1994.

Kansas has lost in the first round of the past two NCAA tournaments. With all the griping about Kentucky's Final Four drought, Tubby has never done that.

North Carolina went 8-20 in 2002. As sour as the past two UK seasons have been, the Cats have never come close to having a losing year.

In five prior years at Louisville, Rick Pitino has twice played in the NIT. Tubby has never missed the Big Dance (though, to keep that going, UK better beat Georgia on Wednesday night).

Moral: The environment for college basketball is far less favorable for the old-line powers being consistently elite than it was in the past.

All very good points and FACTS listed here. :ylsuper: OTS is a great ambassador for the game of college basketball and the University of Kentucky Wildcats Program.

^I'm not saying that but I am saying that tubby came in with a stacked deck, and these players needed no coaching from him. If I'm so wrong about this then why hasn't tubby ever even got to a final four with his recruits?

This team was already prepared. They were an experienced team that had played in two previous championship games, Tubby did nothing to coach this team, Tubby should just box the ring from the championship and send it down to the ville.

   Oh My! This is ridiculous, no comment any further on something that far out there. Absolutely unblelievable.

Seems to be very classy and a straight shooter.

:thumb: Obviously his peers think so or he would not had been voted coach of the year 3 times.

I respect you right to post your opinions:thumb: , but see my previous post #19 for the answer to this one.

He could if he wanted, then I'll take it to Rick when he's coaching a team in the NCAA tournament.

Too bad you didn't have it last year then you could have taken to Rick while he was coaching in the NCAA...err...I mean NIT tournament.

So in 1998 UK would have won the title without a coach right?

Got me there, but nevertheless he would've got it!

:thumb: And 96' according to that way of thinking. :D

It's obvious that no one agrees with me, but I would like for everyone to read a post written by a poster on kentucky.com:

I think that Tubby is a good moral person. He cares about where the Kentucky basketball program is headed. That is why i think he will do the right thing and resign at the end of this season. If he holds his self accountable for the progress being made over the last three years, I think he will move on and give someone else a chance to right the ship. I think most people are more tired of his style of play than they are the actual win and loss record. When we win it isn't even fun to watch the Cats anymore because people in Ky are use to racehorse basketball. Too many times over the past three years I have seen us just score 4 or six points in 12 or 14 minutes span in the first half against average competition. We have come back and won the game but, it bore us fans to death to the point where we could care less either way. When our players get a rebound they don't try to beat the other team down the floor to score quickly, they are told to hold it up and let big Morris lumber down the court at his good ole pace so we run our patented offense. I have saw some of Rupp's teams take the ball down the floor with two or three passes for a lay-up, and the ball would never touch the floor. That is what Ky fans like, good passing and plenty of movement by players. This junk of one player walking it up court and stopping just accross the halfcourt line and waving his arms and dribbling, dribbling, and more dribbling, hoping that the opposing team will fall asleep is pathetic. Everyone should know what he is suppose to do without somebody waving his arms and directing other players when he don't even know what he is suppose to be doing. So i think Tubby will do the right thing and let someone else have a shot at it. I don't think Ky fans have done Tubby wrong because he has made a darn good living over the last ten years and never has to work another day of his life. 90% of America would like to be in Tubby and Donna Smith's financial shoes.

^That my friends sums my thoughts up. I'm out have a good day!

Like I said earlier. Certain people never have and never will accept Smith as their coach. Its a shame.

Outcoached Coach K? Duke was playing freshman for the most part. Like I said UK had experience that no other team in the nation could compare to that year.

To correct this post as well, in the 98 game Duke played 4 freshman in that game, with only 3 getting considerable time. Those three were Elton Brand 21mins - 4pts, Shane Battier 24mins - 11pts, and William Avery 20mins - 4pts. Yes UK was more experienced and did mostly played Juniors and Seniors but so what. BTW, UK was down 10 at half time.
