You are correct Shooter ran it after coach Norman Dale got intentionally thrown out to prove his Assitant coach was capable of being a part of the team and to show shooter he was a worthy person May have been the greatest b-ball movie of all times.IMO

Ill agree with you there and not everyone agreed with the way he coached but he didnt let that stop him he did what he thought was the best for the school and the team to make them believe in him. Its unfortunate that coaches get frowned upon for doing what they think is right for there team . No Better Movie to show how any team can beat another on any given night......

Here's one a young man told me yesterday happened to him...no towel, no water or anything like that involved. The opposing team's coach just reached out & stole the ball from this player from the sideline as he was running past the bench! He did say a T was involved on that one...and I don't think there was really anything creative about it or even if it could be considered a tactic. Lapse in judgement maybe.

There is a team in our region that the girls are instructed that when the ref is standing on the side line to inbounds the ball always go out there, even if you know it is the other teams possession.

 

This has resulted in the ball going to their team numerous times if the ref is not paying attention, sometimes the fans and other coach get vocal enough that they will correct it. It is at the Middle School level so many times the refs are inexperienced and will not reverse the possesion.

 

So what are we exactly teaching our children...............

Not necessarily sportsmanship and fair play.....but definitely "keep your head in the game".

This sounds like coaches telling their best freethrow shooter to step to the foul line, in place of a not so good shooter, to shoot freethrows after a timeout or after walking the length of the floor. You would be amazed at the number of times this is pulled off and it is a whole lot less noticeable.
