Rarely did Vanhoose post up and recieve the ball. He did score 2 points out of the post but other than that him posting, which again he did not do much of, had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. Now am I say that Vanhoose didnt make a difference in the game? No. His presence alone will make a difference in the game. But he made a difference on the perimeter, not the post.

Then you must have not watched the whole second half. It wasn’t true posting in the sense he was on the block like a big man, but he had Elliott's smaller guards sealed off. I personally believe as I said earlier on this post or another that Elliott fans need to get over this who Rodney Dangerfield, "No Respect" angle. Elliott County basketball and its players are respected by those who matter, opposing players and coaches. So let's just move along.

Why RA09 you know it wasn't the Elliott defense! Heaven's no!! But now I am certain it was Russell's defense that held the Elliott player's down. Least way's according to the Russell poster's on the Elliott, Russell thread it was.:thumb:

I thought both defenses controlled the game. Russells half court man to man and Elliott Co's trap.

The difference in the game was Elliott's off shooting night! 11% 3ptfg

33% overall. (not the Russell defense) but Elliott had plenty of open look's that didn't go down. I talked to some of the player's who told me that during monday's practice they did drill's that hadn't been done in four or five months. They all also said they were very sore in the groin and shoulders.

I believe that would cause a body to miss a few shot's. I talked to Ferguson's dad and he said that ferg was complaining about being very sore in the shoulder's and a little in the thighs. I wonder what Mays was thinking??

 

I also heard about the Army style drills the coaching staff put the EC players through the day before the game, "which they had not done since the summer before", because "quote" you didn't play worth a crap the last game. I made the comment then that the coaching staff must be crazy, the players will be so sore the day of the game, they will not be able to play,and yes the players were sore the day of the game, and they who watched the game saw the effect on the players, they had one of the worst shooting games of the season. Chalk this loss up to the coaching staff and their irrational behavior.

Vanhoose did post up Faulkner alot in the second half. I believe he scored 2 or 3 baskets posting him up and spinning to the basket. I thought moving him to the post was a smart move. He did play the point in the second half though when Blair had to go to the bench with foul trouble. While Blair was in the game Vanhoose was in the post. At least until they went to the spread to run clock.

The point of this whole post is that many of the posters on here from the Elliott County camp (Not all) feel as though their team is being slighted in some way. I don't feel that is true, as it doesn't matter what the local media, fans, and others think. The true level of respect is paid by opposing coaches and players and I feel Elliott has had their respect for sometime. As far as the battle that is sure to ensue between Elliott County and Rose Hill over the next few years, I'll take the boys from The Hill as I feel they have a true physical presence in Euton, where Elliott lacks that. In the Lions game against Russell their physical weakness was exposed as VanHoose used his strength, not finesse to take it to Elliott's weaker guards. Now Elliott fans I'm just one man with one opinion don't be too offended.

I understand what you are trying to say TGS. I am not an Elliot or RH or Russell fan but I do enjoy watching all of these play along with Ashland. Imo Elliot, Ashland and R.H. will rule the 16th in the next couple of years and maybe beyond. Most fans are pointing at RH and Elliot but no one had bhetter look past SAshland. The Tomcats are always a factor and are VERY well coached. I don't know what Russell has coming up, their team this season is a senior dominated one and that is why I didn't mention them.

It's Russell's fault. They beat us. I think the Elliott posters were just trying to give some contributing factors (of which all played a role in the outcome).

 

Everybody does that. Just look at some of the previous posts. ....didn't get as many points because he fouled out and had to change uniforms......
