Somerset 55 McCreary Co. 43

1. You didn't say McCreary led most of the game. You said that McCreary led by double digits for most of the game. They led 12-6 after 1 quarter, 19-10 after 2. Unless they scored all 7 of their 2nd quarter points to begin the 2nd there was no opportunity for them to lead by double digits most of the quarter let alone the game. Somerset immediately cut the lead to 21-19 to open the 3rd quarter so they couldn't have led by double digits most, if any of the 3rd quarter. You didn't say McCreary led for most of the game, which they did although the lead was under 10 almost the entire time. You said that they led by double figures almost the entire game-which would make one believe that they dominated for three quarters. In reality they won the 1st quarter by 6, the 2nd quarter by 3, lost the 3rd quarter by 3 and the 4th quarter by 9. Would you care to retract the double digit lead most of the game comment now?:sssh:

2. Its not that you can't bring up the past if you want. However, if you're going to do that you shouldn't tell someone that the past doesn't matter, agreed. :sssh:

3. I made no comments regarding McCreary's win over Lincoln at all, let alone saying it was only due to players being out. Here's the link to that results thread. http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=113726 :sssh:

4. That was not an excuse, it was a fact. Somerset scored 10 points in the first half, I would call that cold. That prevented them from getting in their press and making it a full court game. In the 2nd half when they came out, hit some shots, and got in their press they outscored McCreary by 21. There were no excuses being made. Somerset wasn't hitting in the first half, couldn't press and McCreary was able to hold onto the ball. In the 2nd half they hit some early shots, got in their press and McCreary wilted. Whether the press created the turnovers, made them uncomfortable, or they ran out of gas the Raiders fell apart and were outscored by 21 including a 16-0 run. It wasn't a coincidence that it happened when Somerset pressed.

5. Maybe so but that sounds like a coaching issue. I think it was evident from what happened in the 2nd half that Coach Jones (wisely) didn't think that getting Somerset into a full court game was in the Raiders advantage. Like I said whether the turnovers made directly against the press, were made because McCreary was trying to beat the Jumpers down the floor (like you said earlier) or simply because the Raider got tired due to depth and/or conditioning issues it would seem that their weakness was exposed. Like I said before I think McCreary is in the middle of a group of 3-5 teams chasing Lincoln, Boyle and West that could get hot and win the region. They just aren't any better or worse than the others.

Well, obviously they didn't lead by double digits the entire game, or they wouldn't have an L in the column. But when they did lead, minus Somerset's comeback in the third, it was between 9-11 points. Whether McCreary led by 11, 9, or even 12, I would - rationally considered - call that a double-digit lead. Now, if they only led by 4 or 6 points, then that's a different story.

I already said Jones made a bad mistake for not calling a timeout and getting the Raiders settled down. I don't know why I am getting blasted, I haven't criticized the way the Jumpers played in the game. I admitted the loss and moved on, but for some people, that doesn't seem to be enough.

McCreary Centrals 4 or 5 baskets

Whether they had four baskets, or 44, that has nothing to do with their percentage. They could have shot five times and made 4, for all you know.

And AJG, it's like you're saying the exact same thing, but different meanings for either team. Whenever you say Somerset was cold, you call that "not making excuses," but whenever I mention that someone was out of the game for McCreary or that McCreary turned the ball over whether it was from or not from the pressure, everyone calls it "excuses." Anyway that I comment about this game, it turns into something for Somerset.

Whenever Somerset did something wrong, like go "cold" in the first half, it wasn't a "excuse," it was "fact." Whether it was a fact or not, that was the excuse to why they weren't winning the game. Now, whenever I say McCreary lost this game because they were down a player, then everyone criticizes me for making "excuses."

Hypocrisy at its worst.

Pride, you probably have no idea what the stats are, that's probably just your assumption. I'll have the stats from the Raider crew and post them later.

See, you're just not reading my posts or just choose to ignore any of the facts. In none of my posts on this thread do I say that you're making excuses or do I offer an excuse for Somerset's shooting in the first half. Go ahead, read back through my posts and point out where I said you were making excuses because McCreary had a player out. Go ahead I'll wait........ ... ... Ooops! Didn't find anything did you? The only mention I made of it is when I said that you were upset when Lincoln's fans said they had a couple of players out when you played them yet you were quick to point out that McCreary had one out Friday. I never said you were making an excuse. You seem to be confusing me with someone else because you're putting words in my mouth, while you're at it did you look back in the Lincoln-McCreary post to find where I made excuses for Lincoln or even mentioned the game--of course not because it wasn't there. No hypocrisy on my part. The facts are these: McCreary had the lead in the first half (although talk about hypocrisy stating that they led by double digits for most of the game then getting called out on it and saying that although they only had one double digit lead for a minute or so that it was the same thing) then was simply smoked when they were pressed in the 2nd half. Whether you want to admit it or not the fact is that the press took them completely out of their game to the point that they were outscored by 21 and went without a single point for over 5 minutes. I don't know if they can't handle a press, can't transition from a press offense to a half court offense or simply aren't as deep or aren't conditioned well enough but this isn't the first time this has happened.

Well, that was put for Les, Pride, and yourself. Didn't think it was that important to seperate all of it, but if you'll read the posts in this thread, Les and Pride have talked about me making excuses, whether I am or not. You did say that you weren't making excuses that it was a fact that Somerset was cold. If you didn't know, whether it is a fact or not, it's an excuse. Maybe you didn't mean for it to be an excuse, but it is.

When you say that someone is cold and not making their shots and that's why they're trailing, YOU ARE MAKING AN EXCUSE. When I say you, I don't mean that as you, the person AJG, I mean for it as anyone who says it.

You see an excuse would be "We're not hitting our shots because the refs are letting us get hacked." or "We're not hitting our shots because the lighting is bad and the ball has too much air in it." When I say that Somerset was trailing because they were cold and not hitting their shots that is an observation (which means a legitimate reason not a hypothetical one) because you see, unless the teams are tied there has to be some reason for one team to have a deficit. The reason Somerset was behind is that they had 4 field goals in the first half. I made no excuse for them only hitting 4 shots. And as for saying that you didn't mean it for me then why did you specifically address it to AJG--did that actually mean And Joose Guys? It would seem as though you meant it for me. If you can find anything in any of my posts that I've posted that was untrue or hypocritical please let me know and provide some evidence.

Maybe since the "excuse" thing was in two different paragraphs... just maybe?

I've never said that you lied about anything, so I have no reason to find something "untrue."

I don't care if it was the refs, the lighting, or if they were cold. You had an excuse to why they weren't winning in the first half, and it was their shooting being off. Why couldn't we attribute that to McCreary defense? I guess that isn't a possiblity, huh? Just admit that McCreary played better than them in the first half, instead of them losing because they shot cold. I guess McCreary let them stand wide up and the shots just weren't falling. I've already said that Somerset beat McCreary in the fourth, and no one gives McCreary credit anywhere.

Honestly, I am tired of arguing with you. I've accepted defeat, and whether you, Pride, or Les feel that it is needed to argue, I'm ready to move on to the next game.

I never said it wasn't or couldn't have been McCreary's defense that caused the cold shooting, again stating that Somerset was behind because they were shooting poorly is a fact, or an observation not an excuse--an excuse is something that may or may not be true. I also more than once said that the game was 2 games in one with McCreary winning the first half by 9 and losing the 2nd half by 21. Somerset didn't just win the 4th quarter they blitzed McCreary and they also won the 3rd so it was really 2 quarters apiece wasn't it. The whole point I've been trying to make is that McCreary completely wilted when faced with a press in the 2nd half and were fortunate that Somerset was unable to get into one in the first half. A big weakness was exposed, one that I think moves them back into the pack in the 12th Region below the Boyle, Lincoln, West trio.

Like another thread stated.. there are about 8 teams that can win this region, McCreary and Somerset included. Lets just get ready for more games. Truce?

I'll be looking forward to seeing those stats, although, trust me i'm pretty sure i have a good idea of what the stats are ;)

Matter of fact, i believe i'm going to watch the tape of this game.. That way i can tell you exactly how long they led by double digits.. My prediction is less than a minute!
