McCreary led the entire game until the 4th, and by double digits most of the way. The fell apart in the 4th with too many costly, costly turnovers. Could have easily blew this game out if they would have played half as good as defense in the second half as they did in the first.

 

McCreary also played without starting junior foward, and second leading scorer, Josh Phillips.

This shocks me a bit. I wish they had moved Corbin to the 12th region when the did the realignment.....lol

Somerset is sometimes bothered by slow down, deliberate basketball. Rockcastle, Barbourville, Hazard, McCreary Co. all to some extent tried to slow the game down. Somerset split with Rockcastle, lost to Hazard and Barbourville and beat McCreary. All of these teams except Rockcastle were favored or at least even with Somerset at the time the games were played. It makes each possesion more important and also makes for less exciting basketball. None of these teams can stay with Somerset in a running game, Hazard would come close, but I guess they feel slow down ball is their best option. Somerset's press was the difference in the second half against McCreary it changed the game into a running game with easy baskets. The first half there were not enough made baskets to try it, but I believe they need to use the press more in all games particularly against teams that try to slow down the pace of the game.

Nope.. Also i believe Watts had 3 points in the second half, 13 for the game.. Jumpers did well defending him after the first 2 minutes of the game..

Nice win for the Jumpers, sounds like MC pulled a Somerset and broke down late in the game.

I don't have a problemo at all. I like Coach Jones and McCreary ... just looking at your post and you stating McCreary led by double digits and then find out they didn't ... IF, IF, IF IF, ...so what if McCreary Central outplayed Somerset until the fourth quarter, so the Jumpers just had to play one good quarter (the fourth) to pick up the win? Man, imagine just how much Somerset could have won by if THE JUMPERS played an entire four quarters!

If MC out played SHS in every aspectof the game, why did Somerset outrebound them, turn the ball over fewer times, have more assist and shoot a higher field goal percentage? Interesting..
