Why is this a dumb move....Amount of money, Bonds can produce any more, ticket sales won't cover expenditures, the off field allegations?

Maybe. Probably not. I barely paid attention to his exploits last year.

 

Maybe morbid curiosity will get me, the way it did when McGwire and Bonds were both on the Maris chase. But I will go out of my way to avoid watching him. The only time I did last year was when the Reds went to SF for their series.

They are paid to put people in the seats. No matter how they do it. If a team had a guy who hit .200 for a career but everyone wanted to see he would still get PAID just because he can put people in the seats. I think we all know this isn't based on performance.

Bonds is a runs producer and not an average type of hitter. The rate of his IBB, will reduce his RBI's alone and not many teams, want to pitch to him.

 

If Bonds approaches those numbers, he's had an outstanding and MVP style year, which aren't needed for him to help the Giants win.

After his lackluster '06, I think you'll see that 8 percent figure melt away to next to nothing.

Bay Area Fans all have serious blinders on. I'm talking being blinded like the Germans were while the rest of the world was against Adolf Hitler. I respect every athlete and very rarely will you hear me talk smack on them (not counting Bobby Perry ), but wouldn't it just be a miracle if first day of Spring Training Barry Swings, drives with his legs, and totally blows his knee out. I guess that would be too good to be true, so I guess we will all have to watch Barry limp his way past Aaron. 5 years ago I wanted to see the record be broken, just so I could say I saw it, now I think it would be a disgrace to the game of baseball if he passes the Hammer. I hope the "big asterik" never reaches this mark.
