CAL travels to Rockford Ln to take on the Western Warriors on Friday 10/16. Game time is set for 7 p.m. If ever there was an argument for mandatory district play being broken, this is it. This is literally a battle of the highest rated RPI team in class 3A vs. the lowest rated RPI team in class 3A. I commend Western for playing this game and not simply forfeiting; however, this game will be a running clock from the outset, literally. Western has asked for a running clock from the opening kickoff due to low numbers and injuries & CAL has agreed. CAL will extend their winning streak to 31 and Ja'Hyde Brown has an outside chance to tie the KY single season TD reception record as well.

They need to also drop to 8 minute quarters in addition to the continuous running clock.

CAL JV team could win this game.

Brown's pursuit of the record books has overshadowed Jackson Burke's excellence this year. He's on pace to shatter his own national record for single season completion percentage and he hasn't thrown an interception yet this year. Dating back to last season, Burke has thrown 80 touchdown passes since his last pick.

Why even play the game at all at that point? If it were 6-minute quarters, Western might as well forfeit. I'm sure it will be the CAL varsity for about 1 1/2 quarters, then the JV will play the rest. It'll be good for the JV. They've only had 4 JV games this year due to so many cancellations. CAL JV has played as many, if not more quarters on Friday nights this year than on Saturday afternoons or Monday evenings.
