Oldham County (1-0, beat DeSales, 38-10 Friday 8/21/26 at DeSales)

Oldham County's youngsters played a pretty mature ballgame on the road in their first game of the season against DeSales, keeping it professional, blue-collar, and aggressive against the Colts. With just 3 returning starters on both sides of the ball, and missing the leading passer, top 2 leading rushers, and the leading pass catcher from 2025, Oldham looked relatively polished on both sides of the ball, with reasonably good execution for a Week 1 clash on the road.

Veteran Oldham coach Jamie Reed, one of the winningest coaches in metro Louisville, is now 2-0 in season openers at the Buckner school.

True, DeSales is a smaller school, but the Colts have an exemplary coach of their own in Mike Jackson, a tradition of football excellence in their class, and they returned 19 starters from last year's 6 win team that won 4 of its last 6. So while Oldham had a slight advantage in numbers on the sidelines, the Colts had a significant advantage in game experience.

Junior QB Javy Tucker was outstanding in his first start as the Oldham QB, particularly considering he missed the second scrimmage against Lexington Christian after a mild injury suffered against Bowling Green. Threw a couple of passes for scores - including a 44 yard bomb - and ran for a third score.

Dixon Mount looked solid in multiple roles, playing the wing/slot position. Offensive and defensive lines both looked vastly improved since last week's scrimmage vs. Lexington Christian. Oldham's defense really flew to the ball, forcing pressure on the DeSales QB, forcing fumbles, and making DeSales pay for two bad snaps on punts, both of which resulted in safeties.

Nothing on Shelby yet - the Rockets play Taylor County tonight.

Shelby County dropped their opener Saturday night in the Construction Bowl at Nelson County, falling to Taylor County, 41-18.

Oldham County has won 6 of the last 10 meetings between the two schools, dating back to 2010. The Colonels have won the last two meetings in 2024 and 2025, outscoring the Rockets by a cumulative score of 93-0.

Last year, the Colonels won, 43-0, in Shelbyville, as the Colonel defense held the Rockets to just 39 total offensive yards. Oldham scored two TDs rushing, two TDs receiving, one on a fumble recovery, and one a kickoff return as all three pieces of the roster got into the scoring act.

Both coaches - Jamie Reed of Oldham County and Powell Miller of Shelby County - were in their first years as head coach at their respective schools last year, though both are veteran coaches. Reed finished 6-5 with his inaugural OCHS team; Miller finished 1-9 in Shelbyville

So sorry everyone looking for the live broadcast couldn't join in. This was a software / internet issue at our end, not a problem on yours.

Funny (or not).....we ran a dry run at OCHS two weeks prior, and no bugs popped up.....but we seem to have resolved these now.

The broadcast is SO much more sophisticated than 2023, when Pegasus last broadcast.

The broadcast was placed online as an archive late Friday night, and is still out there (it will remain there indefinitely).

Again, my apologies for the inconvenience; Oldham County fans, we will be on air - ON TIME - this Friday at North Oldham (7 pm).
