The 2025 Class 1A Champions Kentucky Country Day Bearcats welcome in the 2024 Class 1A Champions Sayre Spartans. The Bearcats topped Sayre last year 31-28 on a field goal with only a few seconds left in the game after jumping out to a huge lead before Sayre coming roaring back. Will this 2026 matchup live up to last seasons matchup?

Who wins this Class 1A showdown of Champions? Does the Bearcats get back to back wins over Sayre? Does The Sayre Spartans pick up a huge opening season road win?

I am really interested in this game. It should tells us a lot about 1A this year.

Sayre 35-14. They have some neat things happening this season that’ll make them hard to beat.

Last years 1A finals MVP Deion Davidson will push as a 2K rusher this year. Him and Ashton Taylor are the two best junior backs in the Louisville area. He will put up some monster stat lines. Braylon Hobbs and DJ Lawless are two of the best freshman and sophomore skill kids in the area. KCD has as much high end young talent as anyone in the 502 area. Matt Jones also a championship level coach. Should be another fun year for the Bearcats.

You couldn't ask for a better season opener in 1A that doesn't involve Pikeville or Raceland.

This feels like a coin toss on paper, but Sayre still has a Pennington at quarterback, so I'm rolling with the Spartans to get back at KCD.

After doing some research. Kentucky Country Day has played 78 home games since 2016 in a 10 year span and they are 65-13 at home. Give me the Bearcats by 8.

This would be surprising……. I think this is a coin flip. There would be a 3 or more turnover differential for a lopsided score in my opinion.

We tied 7-7.

13-7 KCD.

KCD is faster, but I’m not sure they’re better overall. Sayre play calling is not great so far. Good environment here!
