Tilghman leads the overall series now 9-3 and has won the last 7 in a row. McCracken last won in 2017. This game was cancelled during the shortened 2020 season. PT Coach Sean Thompson will begin his 6th season while Mustangs Coach Tyler Brooks starts year 3.

After the first Friday game in the whole series last season, this game goes back to the normal Saturday slot that most of these have been played in. There was one played on a Sunday back in 2016 that was moved due to weather concerns that never materialized.

Coach Brooks described this years squad as "Young but Experienced" in his Paducah Sun interview last month. The Mustangs prepare for their first season since 2022 without qb Maddox O'Neal, who had a really good high school career. He will be replaced by Cole Presswood, who looked more than the part when he got to play last year. He was very impressive. He will look early and often to Jakari Matchem, who had 1,239 yards last season as a sophmore and led 6A in a number of individual statistics.

PT will do the same. After Jack James graduated in 2024 and Stone Crowe in 2025, PT will have their 3rd qb in 3 years in Xavier Isable. He's definitely got a big arm and can sling it. Time will tell how long it takes to get on the same page as his super talented receiving corps who will be led by Junior Avery Thompson, who has a plethora of big school offers.

Tilghman graduated 21 seniors from the 2025 team and a lost a massive amount of production on offense, including their top 2 scorers. PT does however return 8 of their top 11 tacklers.

I feel like the Tornado will once again be a threat by the end of the season, but I just think it takes longer for this season to materialize into what you have become accustomed to seeing over the previous seasons. There will very likely be a learning curve to be had with so many new faces.

Can McCracken keep this close and put some pressure on Big Blue, or does PT roll on to their 8th straight win against the Mustangs?

PT by 4 or 5 touchdowns.

I can see this game being a little sloppy as both teams break in new quarterbacks. Thompson and McPike give the Tornado a big play threat on any given snap. I think they make the difference here as PT maintains its grip on the county rival.

McCracken Co has several skill players that can make plays. I see them improving as the year progresses. The addition of Coach Dew is key for the future of the program, IMO. As of now, I don’t think the trenches favor the Mustangs. I see for PT to put pressure on Presswood early and often.
