25 Years of Dominance - All-Trinity Team (2000-2025)

1) Zane has benefitted from some of the best defenses Trinity has ever produced, specifically last year. If you're looking at his numbers and not the team's, he has been very pedestrian. And as someone who has been to every one of his games, home and road, I feel I can make the comparisons accurately. Look at Travis' winning percentage and stats against the schedule he faced. Stein has a ton of the single-season records with his 07 Season and Nick Bohn has the others. If he wins 4 straight and lights it up against this schedule, I might move him up but that's a big if. Titles do not necessarily make a QB in our program.

2) Who am I missing?

Flashback August 2023. Trinity is scrimmaging at Springfield HS (Ohio). The same Springfield defense that gave the Trinity offense fits in previous scrimmages. Coach Cobb tries two older Shamrocks QB’s. Neither is effective. Enter rising freshman QB Zane Johnson. The kid simply performed different. It was obvious to all who were there. That is the beginning of his story and more evidence that you have undervalued Zane.

I am looking at statistics, wins and in-game intangibles. Brian is Brian. Travis is the winningest QB in a program know for its QB's and led them to a National Championship. William went toe-to-toe with the #1 team in the country and nearly beat them, all while leading the best statistical offense in the time period. Nick Bohn completed a national-record number of passes and went undefeated doing so.

Zane has not been as sharp as he wanted to be in many of the biggest games to this point, and largely benefits from an elite defense creating turnovers at a ridiculous pace.  He is a terrific player, but the bar at Trinity is extremely high under center...That's all I'm saying.

Junior season

Travis Wright 70%, 3036 yds, 39 TDs 3 Ints

Zane Johnson 69% 2925 yds, 53 TDs 3 int

Travis had a Power 4 rb with 2k yards and one of the best wrs in khsaa history, James Quick who had half the total offensive pass production.

Zane hasn't thrown 1 TD to D1 WR, hasn't handed the ball to 1 D1 rb.  Both should change this year.

Travis was a great QB, but to discredit Zane by suggesting stats, you are far from accurate.

Zane quite possibly will break career TD record, career passing record, career wins record, become the only QB in state history to win 4 state championships, all while having the least amount of D1 talent.

I will take Zane over them all if they handle business this year.

Yes indeed. My point was that he had “undervalued” Zane by equating his QB time at Trinity with Cam Smith, Nick Petrino and Spencer Blackburn. Those guys are Honorable Mention. Zane should be higher than those guys.

Zero chance. I don't feel he can surpass Brohm, Wright or Stein. Unless he goes undefeated this year and throws for 4000 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Not even a chance if he doesn’t throw for them numbers? Unless he’s straight awful he can’t? If right basically until this year on offense the talent he’s played with isn’t close to what those guys had and he’s done it since a true freshman.

C'mon guys...

You arguing better team or better QB. Make up your mind. ?

We only had Spencer Blackburn for one year as a starter but he was a stud. He was great on the run. QB keeper was a big weapon.

I still have Travis Wright ahead of Zane Johnson but this season could change my mind. I think Travis won MVP in one of the state final games.

So did Zane.

I'm saying Travis had just as good if not better stats against a markedly better schedule. That Elder team in 2011 would beat every school on the 2025 schedule except for the GCL teams...And they went 3-7!

If anything, you are undervaluing Travis based on...what? He played with James Quick?

I never undervalued Travis on anything. I simply provided a rebuttal to your assertion that Zane was nowhere near Travis, with stats as your reasoning.  You think it is not an advantage to have P4 WR and P4 RB and one of the greatest offensive minds in KY HS football history?

I respect that you like your QB, you saw his daily grind and should be a fan. But you trying to discredit Zane like he is average is comical.

Since when is Honorable Mention "average"? Spencer, Nick and Cam are far from average, even by Trinity standards. All I'm saying is look at the results against the top competition, that is the deciding factor among all of our supremely talented candidates.

Travis had elite stats against the #1 schedule in the country, hands down. And Zane will have his chance this year.

Will Zane's performance this year be included in the "All T Team considerations" since it is 2026?
