FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JUNE 5, 2026

The lower bracket of the opening round on day two at the 2026 KHSAA Baseball State Tournament presented by UK HealthCare concluded at Legends Field in Lexington.

Tenth region champion Campbell County defeated LaRue County 6-1.

Apollo, ranked #49 in the RPI, took down top-ranked Whitley County 5-3.

Reigning state champion Trinity (Louisville) blanked Bullitt East 5-0.

In the nightcap, Beechwood outlasted West Jessamine 6-2.

Here is a look at Saturday’s quarterfinal action from Legends Field:

*10 AM: McCracken County (32-8) vs. Sayre (27-9)
*1:30 PM: Boyd County (27-7) vs. University Heights (30-8)
*5 PM: Campbell County (26-13) vs. Apollo (22-12)
*8:30 PM: Trinity (Louisville) (38-3) vs. Beechwood (33-9)

Most impressive thing about Sawyer Carlisle - he got a 35 on his ACT and has a scholarship to MIT. Yes, he will play baseball at MIT.
