You can’t dislike the KHSAA strongly enough. Doubling down on RPI is ridiculous. Get rid of it.

This is simply another angle to try and “level the playing field” between the stronger KHSAA football programs who tend to play more out of state schools, and the rest of the field. By penalizing those schools who play strong out of state competition with an RPI “hit”, and by now bringing the RPI factor into an earlier round of the playoffs, the KHSAA is efforting to bring the stronger programs back to the pack. A lack of thought leadership by the KHSAA.

Just like we're seeing with the University of Kentucky, change is needed in the KHSAA. Time to revamp the entire office.

Our playoff system in comparison to other states is well....boring. This is a step in the right direction at least.

Part of the thrill of playoffs is qualifying. That is going away nationwide it seems with more states finding ways to let more teams qualify. We luckily can't get any more teams in the playoffs at this point.

The next thrill is seeing who you have each week and getting a new opponent you may not normally get to prepare for. At least starting now (2027) in week 2 of "Playoffs" that can start to happen. Even if it is going to be an East vs West scenario.

If RPI was a fair barometer for strength of schedule...MAYBE.  Teams game the system.  I mean, Boyle beats the #17 team in the country after driving 6 hours to do it....and they would have gotten more points for beating Lexington Catholic.  That's ridiculous.  It's a seriously flawed system, and it sucks. The fact that KHSAA has done NOTHING to fix it just proves that they are a collection of morons.

Yes

Sadly let’s NOT raise expectations, let’s lower them for everyone.

I’ve said for years T and X should form a league with schools from Cincinnati and Indianapolis. CAL is able to compete at that level now as well.

KHSAA does NOTHING for the schools that bring them the most.
