Tony Adams named head coach at Greenwood

Tony Adams named head coach at Greenwood.

From the wbko article:

Adams began his high school coaching career with Greenwood High School, working under Greg Cavanah and staying on with Chris Seabolt. After his initial tenure at GHS, he served as the defensive coordinator at Portland High School for four seasons. In 2020, he returned to GHS as the special teams coordinator and later became the defensive coordinator. In 2024, he took on the lacrosse varsity program, leading the team to a regional championship during its first season as a KHSAA-sanctioned sport.

Longtime assistant who has put in the work. Tremendous hire for Greenwood: Adams will likely keep an excellent staff together, the players know and like him, and he has been part of the Greenwood community as long as anyone who has ever been HC at that school.

On top of all that, just a great all-around guy who is passionate and knowledgeable about football and truly values the impact football can have on students' lives.

IMO he’s the right guy to continue leading this program. Do some changes need to be made? Probably, but nothing significant.

This name sounds familiar. Wasn't he the coach at Mason County for a minute?

Tony Adams played for us when I was blessed to be the HFC at Greenwood.  This 'kid' (ok he's still one of 'my' kids! as is each 'kid' that I've ever been gifted to Coach)  has always had a passion for the game, for the Team, for Greenwood.  Heck, Tony Adams was an ILB on a defense built for ILBs! (Got the D from EKU when they were winning national championships!)  I personally am elated with this hire.  It may be selfish, AND I'm proud of this hire!  The memories of the kids I got to Coach there, the parents who were so integral in getting us a leg up...Rzepkas, Trammels, Jones', ADAMS', Shiedler, and so many more.  Plus the colleagues...Ed Smart, Jeff Griffith, Aaron McClung, were/are all HFCs in their own right (oh shut up and all were more successful than this old dude!)   And now Tony Adams; Head Football Coach, Greenwood High School!  As One: WE Win!  Go be YOU, Coach Adams!
