Well, without question, the toughest opponent last week was Mother Nature.  Most people got very few games in last week, with the exception of our top team who went 4-0 and dodged winter's wrath.  The game of the week was the overtime thriller on the hill, with Notre Dame knocking off Holy Cross, in a game that I'm sure had both teams leaving wondering "what if".  We should all ink in the fact that the rematch in the District Tournament will be amazing!

The most surprising outcome last week was Lloyd knocking off Scott, so again, big congrats to Coach Fish and the Juggs!

We have a slew of great games this week, and of course, the annual tradition of Holiday tournaments scattered all over the state.  If Mother Nature cooperates this week, and it looks like she will, we should learn a great deal about everyone over the next 7 days!  Get out into some warm gyms and support these hard-working young ladies!!  Here we go....

1.  Simon Kenton (6-0 / 4-0 last week):  at #9 Dixie, vs #7 Campbell County, and vs Butler at Frederick Douglass

2.  Notre Dame (3-0 / 1-0):  vs #3 Cooper, and vs Central at Eastside

3.  Cooper (2-1 / 0-0):  at #2 Notre Dame and vs Hopkins County Central at the Queen of the Commonwealth Cup

4.  Holy Cross (3-1 / 0-1):  vs #8 Highlands, vs St. Ursula (OH) at Mt. St. Joe, and vs Southwestern at MoCo

5.  Ryle (2-2 / 1-0):  vs #7 Campbell County, vs Scott, vs Madison Southern at F.D., and vs GRC at F.D.

6.  Bishop Brossart (5-0 / 2-0):  at Lloyd, vs Pendleton County, and vs St. Ursula (OH)

7.  Campbell County (1-1 / 1-0):  at #5 Ryle, at #1 Simon Kenton, and vs Knox Co. Central at MoCo

8.  Highlands (3-0 / 1-0):  at #4 Holy Cross

9.  Dixie (1-3 / 0-1):  vs #1 Simon Kenton and vs Nicholas County at LexCath

10. Walton-Verona (3-1 / 1-0):  vs Scott, at North Oldham, and at Mercy Academy

=========================================================

*  St. Henry (4-2 / 2-1):  at Mercer County

*  NewCath (2-3 / 0-2):  vs Conner and vs Trimble County

*  Conner (0-4 / 0-2):  at NewCath and vs Lafayette at LexCath

*  Lloyd (3-4 / 2-1):  vs #6 Brossart and vs Augusta

* Scott (2-3 / 1-1):  at #10 Walton-Verona, at #5 Ryle, vs Graves County at LCA, and vs Bethlehem at LCA

*  Grant County (1-4 / 1-1):  vs Williamstown and vs Tates Creek at Henry County

Sorry I did it see this earlier in the day. Hope you were able to catch some of the game on radio. Thanks!

I sure did, was a great radio broadcast!

Not so great of a Birds performance.

Girls' game of the night, tonight, is Campbell County at Ryle.  Not sure if it is accurate or not, I don't have confirmation, but I heard from a Ryle parent that Izzy Jayasuriya, for the Camels, will miss tonight's game.  Huge factor for the Camels, if accurate.  Obviously, I hope it isn't.

Regardless, #7 at #5 is a good way to spend a Tuesday.

@The Double Deuce, I gathered that the scope of your NKY rankings was limited to Districts 32-37. Is that correct?

Typically, yes, but we have included Pendleton County when they were deserved (and probably should be this year).  But yes, traditionally our NKY Top 10 was 32-37.

Several good games around the area tonight, but none bigger than #3 Cooper visiting #2 Notre Dame on the hill!  Really looking forward to that one -- two new coaching staffs, facing an early-season stiff test.  Can't wait!
