Now that the season is over, I just want to make it clear that Nate Shields is the best Offensive Lineman I have ever witnessed at Trinity High School. He is a master technician, tremendous footwork, brilliant mind, outstanding teammate and the heart of a three-time champion. Every time he was out there, his impact was on display. Each week, he went against 3/4/5 star ends and linebackers in games and in practice and I’m not sure he ever gave up a sack or made an egregious holding penalty.

I know the All-State teams can be skewed or biased, but in my humble opinion through 30-plus years of watching he is the best. Would love to hear thoughts from others who know OL and have seen him play.☘️

I'm not educated enough to place him somewhere on a list of Trinity linemen, but I'd love to have him on my team.

Great technique, feet, and finishes plays. Played left tackle, but translates to interior line at the next level.

I have been meaning to bring this up on here for a while. I have created Trinity’s uniforms in CFB 26 (the video game) and have always wanted to fill out an all-time roster for it. I have some notable guys on there but not the knowledge to fill out a whole roster.

College coach told me if Nate was 2-3 inches taller he would be sought out by the Ohio States, Notre Dames and Georgias of the world.

So ridiculous...if you can play, you can play! He's not a little guy and can play all three positions...Hope he goes somewhere he can get a chance to showcase the talent

He signed with Lafayette in the Patriot league. It’s a good school and Nate’s a smart kid. He is a top notch kid all the way around.  

Work the portal. It’s hard to say who the best ever is at any position so you may want to cool your heals on that. But there are 1,000s of examples of guys overlooked for size that made the hall of fames in their respective sports. 

I have Shields at the top of a list that includes Cole Spencer (WKU/TTU), Sam Robey (Florida), Alex Kupper (UofL/NFL), Dylan Thiry (Northwestern), Joey Warburg (Purdue), Dane Spoelker, Wes Duke, John Michael Heile (Brown), Michael Heistand (UChicago), Tyler English (WKU) and Alex Moore.

That's just the last 25 years.

And Alex Moore played at the Air Force Academy.
