Lexington Catholic continues their march through the district schedule. That run concludes at home with their final district opponent, the struggling Casey County Rebels who sit at 1-7. This should be a pretty conclusory blowout and, if history repeats itself, a probable shutout as the Knight defense has just smothered inferior offenses this year. 

This really has been a season beyond expectations for the Knights. This will most likely be the last time they get to go deep into the bench in the regular season as they take on the tough Tomcats of Ashland in the regular season finale. With all that said, Knights early and often in this one.

Respectfully, Casey County getting beat badly against Mercer County tells me everything I need to know. That and Lexington Catholic is a solid team. Lexington Catholic BIG!

Lexington Catholic's first ever home football game was against Casey County on September 20, 1991. The game had to be played on Catholic's soccer field and it didn't have goal posts! The Knights lost 8-0, on their way to a 1-4 season (the lone win came in the finale against Ironton St. Joseph). Catholic won the 1992 opener at Casey County, 27-0, and finished that year 9-1. They moved into district play in 1993.

Casey's talent comes in waves, and those waves are few and far between. There is some possible talent in the Youth League there, if they can keep them all in Casey and playing football, and even then it will be hard to see them get to the level of Lex Cath competition. Just how things happen there. Hopefully they can turn things around in the near future.
