Week 8

Cash Harney (QB, Covington Catholic)

🗞️ | CovCath quarterbacks love inflicting a little Catholic-on-Catholic harm to the Hoosier state. AJ Mayer and Caleb Jacob went off on Bishop Chatard in 2017 & 2018, respectively. The list grows by one after Harney accounted for 282 yards - 164 passing/118 rushing - to help take down 14-time Indiana state champion Cathedral.

Season so far: 83/129 (64%) for 1,316 yards and 10 touchdowns with 5 interceptions | 741 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns | 1 receiving touchdown

Cam Davis (ATH, Ashland)

🗞️ | The Tomcats sank their claws deeper into the Lions' flesh, as Davis ran for 221 yards and four touchdowns. Ashland’s streak over arch-rival Boyd County now stands at 22. He's one of the most dangerous open field runners in the state, with the speed to erase pursuit angles.

Season so far: 110 carries for 918 yards and 18 touchdowns | 142 receiving yards and 1 touchdown | 3 interceptions, including a pick-six

Jacob Savage (RB/LB, Ryle)

🗞️ | Well rested following a bye week, he resumed his tour of savagery across NKY, doling out de-cleaters, form tackles, and touchdowns to Campbell County. Savage ran for 116 yards and two scores to overpower the Camels, who now only have one hump because he flattened the other one out.

Season so far: 99 carries for 650 yards and 12 touchdowns | 3 touchdown receptions | 56 tackles | 7.5 TFL

Brady Wasik (QB, Lexington Catholic)

🗞️ | Mercer County's defense has been a sieve this year, Wasik and the Knights being the latest team to penetrate at will. He accounted for four touchdowns - two running, two passing - and recovered a fumble as LexCath cut the Titans down to size.
Season so far: 55/95 (62%) for 651 yards and 8 touchdowns with 1 interception| 536 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns | 41 tackles | 7 TFL | 3.5 sacks | 2 forced fumbles and 1 recovered

Marlon Harbin III (ATH, Saint Xavier)

🗞️ | The Tigers ended a three game slide and took back the district from Manual. Harbin contributed a touchdown reception with a defender draped on him to help increase X's lead to an insurmountable four scores.

Season so far: 42 carries for 273 yards and 6 touchdowns | 34 receptions for 361 yards and 4 touchdowns | 1 kick return touchdown | 29 tackles | 1 interception

Kain Patton (ATH, Prestonsburg)

🗞️ | It was an efficient night at the office for Patton, who ran for 190 yards and three touchdowns on a mere six carries against Floyd Central.
Season so far: 78 carries for 1,133 yards and 14 touchdowns | 21 receptions for 463 yards and 5 touchdowns | 37 tackles | 1 sack

Mason Griffin (QB, South Laurel)

🗞️ | The fairytale season took a grim turn as the Cardinals were taken to the woodshed by Pulaski County. Griffin was relentlessly harassed by Maroon defenders, who dropped him eight times and held him without a touchdown pass for the first time in nearly a year.
B]Season so far:[/B] 151/215 (70%) for 2,055 yards and 20 touchdowns with 2 interceptions

‼️Milestones‼️
Colin Daniels (QB, North Oldham)
🗞️ | He continues to build on a stellar season, probably the best in program history. Daniels threw five touchdown passes against Valley to bring his season total to 31, a single season school record. He likely has several games remaining to stretch the new standard out.

Season so far: 120/176 (68%) for 1,826 yards and 31 touchdowns with 2 interceptions | 137 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns

Trending Up 📈
Kaleb Evans (QB, Lloyd Memorial)
🗞️ | The stats below aren't too shabby, but they take a back seat to the numbers that sell Evans’ place in here this week. Lloyd is 8-0 this season, running his career record as a starter to 20-4. He's also the recipient of this week's ‘William Tell Marksmanship Award’ for completing 15/18 attempts against Henry County.
Season so far: 101/146 (69%) for 1,555 yards and 19 touchdowns with 5 interceptions | 1 rushing touchdown

I think Cash Harney is in the driver's seat right now at this point of the season.

He's definitely near the top. Personally, I couldn't pinpoint a favorite right now. I think it's as wide open as it's been in years, and will likely drag out till the dust settles at Kroger Field, which is fine by me. I prefer a photo finish.

I agree, this year more than any year I have no idea...

I would add St. X QB Mason Trimble for consideration. In 6 games against tough competition threw 949 yards with 8 tds and 4 tds rushing. With him playing scored 24 pts against Elder and Trinity and without him scored 3 pts against Boyle Co. He's the straw that stirs the St. X offense drink.
