The 4-0 Juggs travel to 2-2 Campbell County this Friday to try to keep the undefeated season going. The Juggs are coming off an impressive 36-22 win over Aiken Ohio while the Camels took a 35-7 loss from a tough Cooper team. I think this is the game that let's the Juggs know where they stand. Juggs win in a close one. 28-22.

It is to me as well. Not sure of any streams yet.

Yes, interesting.

Campbell is looking to best the 5-5 mark that many bestowed upon them. A win total they have not eclipsed since the 18-19 season, I think. Looking at their remaining schedule, Lloyd could be the road block that really deters them from that goal. A win against Lloyd and the Camels have a real shot at finishing 5-5 maybe even 6-4 enduring a pretty tough schedule with past State Champions and runner-ups on that list. A loss and most likely 3-7 or 4-6 it is.

Lloyd is looking to keep their record without a tally in the loss column and to do so against a much bigger school. Campbell County has no interest in letting Lloyd take the bus ride back down AA Highway hootin and hollerin undefeated but Lloyd doesn't see the trip back home going any other way after not really sweating a game yet ths season.

No debate that the Camels come into this one after playing a much harder schedule than their opponent. No help from Scott and Southwestern in that regard but playing Highlands and Cooper back to back is no joke. I am pretty sure the Camels made it out of that stretch injury free and even with the L's I imagine they are counting their blessings.

I think the big county boys are looking to push the independent city boys around in this one to get back on track. But Lloyd has been about as close to an unmovable object as there can be. Lloyd has been dominant at the line of scrimmage in the run game on both sides of the ball, even after some may have doubted them early on (who would do that?). Lloyd's LB's have been feasting on ball carriers all season. No issue with saying Lloyd's front 7-8 have been having a party in the backfield and have had fun doing so. But it's time to get serious though, Campbell has guys too. They have been through the ringer and have to be looking to ruin someone's Friday night party and enjoy some festivities themselves after a rough last two weeks. I like the matchup in the trenches in this one. Should be a lot of pads popping which is good for football.

Two good QB's will be taking the snaps Evans and Anthrop. Their top receivers Barger and Earls both make exciting plays and have a nose for finding pay dirt, or pay turf nowadays. An instant classic duel between the four could be in the making. Lloyd has scored big through the air but they have controlled games with their ground attack. Three yards and a lot of kicked up tar has weakened defenses all year for the Juggs and that has eventually set Tomlinson and Conrad up for gut punching long TD runs. Can the Camels sustain those blows and keep the big plays in check? Deppeschmidt and Riedinger will be looking to deliver their own knockout blows, two kids that always find their way to the ball carrier.

Anthrop comes in as his teams leading rusher. Stout kid who can move and does not shy away from contact. When he tucks and runs it usually keeps the chains moving. He is not looking to go down or out of bounds. Can Lloyd's D. Peterson keep Anthrop in check sideline to sideline like he did Montgomery and Underwood? Anthrop will be looking to run through his chest so he better be ready for that.

Who wins the special teams? Both teams have shown the ability to take multiple kicks to the house. Can Lloyd's punt team change the game for them again like it did against Aiken?

Someone has to force a turnover in this game. Lloyd’s secondary has been very sketchy, their only weakness shown so far. The Camels strong point has been their passing attack. Anthrop puts balls on the mark which is not good for a Lloyd team that has let receivers run open like a 7Eleven. But Anthrop will leave a ball or 2 out to hang that will give Lloyd a chance to make a play on it, can they capitalize?

To my knowledge, this is the 1st meeting between these two teams in 39 years. The season of 86'.
Matt Woeste was the fullback and Devin Pinkleton was playing tailback for Eugene Luke who was out with an ankle injury. Juggs came home the winner that night.
Have they played since?
I don't recall.
Please correct me if so.

Campbell Co seemingly had an offense this year,  it Lloyd has been scoring in bunches so far. Juggs by 14.

I agree. This game feels like it will be a good barometer on Lloyd.

Right, that is what I am trying to figure out, who are the Lloyd Juggernauts?

So I have been trying to think of a way to describe what's off in Lloyd's secondary and I think I am on to something after doing some homework. And I am just going to keep it real from my point of view. Bare with me for a minute.

Barger and Griffin are solid at DB. So what's going on with the rest?

This is what the film says. Lloyd is forcing a young sophomore on to the field as much as possible on defense and offense, for what...I don't know? It's had 0 production. He lacks speed, size and strength. The kid is a decent athlete and as a sophomore he should be okay over the next couple years but right now there isn't anything that separates him from the rest where you say "oh my gosh that kid has to be on the field". It makes me ask, why does this kid get so many opportunities over others who are just as capable? Then they got 2 senior track stars they are trying to make dependable position players. I get showing respect to seniors who have some tools and giving them a chance to own a position. But it's not working. Nice athletes, yes. They haven't played much football over the past couple years and it shows up on tape. Track doesn't always translate to the field. You can't just force guys to be playmakers out of no where and that's what's going on with these 3. Maybe they look good in practice and there is some potential but it's not translating into games. This may be kind of harsh but I said I was going to keep it real.

They have a bunch of good athletes but what it comes down to is they need a gamer that is going go make plays when the opportunities arise. Watching Lloyd pretty closely this year I think they have one that hasn't received his oppurtunity. Let me explain.

I have noticed another young sophomore on special teams that's been running 100mph all over the field, making plays every opportunity he gets and the unselfish plays that go unnoticed. But apparently he can't be trusted for defense? Or offense which is wild when you look at his skill set. I thought that's where young players got to make a name for themselves was on special teams and that would give them a chance to prove their worthiness elsewhere?? He has been given 0 meaningful snaps outside of special teams. A couple unmeaningful snaps where he showed up in the stat sheet. He has definitely made the most of his slim opportunities. He looks like he checks the boxes on film...speed ✔️,  size ✔️,  strength ✔️,  field awareness ✔️. You don't make the plays he has made without a combination of those things. Some kids just have something different in them. When the lights come on and its time to make a play that's what they do. Pretty sure that's ingrained in this kids DNA.

He has showed no issue tackling, running, catching, or being in the right place at the right time and making the play that is suppose to be made or exceeding the expectation. That's what the kid has put on film. The eye in the sky don't lie. What else can you ask for from a kid whose trying to earn a spot except that he play hard and make the plays that are expected to be made when the opportunities arise. So if random fans of the game can pick that up, the coaches have had to notice it too, right?

I had to phone some acquaintances that have kept close tabs on the Juggs for many years to get second and third opinions on if my accessment was just completely off on this whole topic altogether or if I was onto something? And they confirmed that the 3 I mentioned are definitely being force fed reps. And the kid not playing is without a doubt a playmaker but has been buried on the depth chart for whatever unknown reason. So I am not as crazy I as was starting to think. I don't even need to put a number or name to the player because his play speaks for itself. Why has this kid had 0 opportunity to prove himself on defense where they have a glaring issue but others are being given all the trial and error that could ever be granted? Doesn’t the special teams kid seem like someone that should be given a chance when looking for someone whose going to make plays? Someone who siezes the moment when opportunity presents itself? I guess maybe Lloyd's not looking for someone else, maybe their mind is already made up with who will have the reps regardless and they will ride or die with the results. Confusing to me why an athlete like that doesn't get a chance just like his peers who he is obviously just as capable as or more capable than. Seems he has just been written off as a position player and won't receive a chance.

Being on the outside looking in there has to be something going on that I clearly can't see. There's no way an athlete like that takes lightly to being passed up on for opportunities to play, maybe that's why he is going so hard on special teams to show he belongs on the field? I asked...maybe he hasn't earned it. Maybe he doesn't practice hard? Maybe he is a bad kid? Maybe he misses school? Maybe he doesn't work hard in the off season and being delegated to only special teams is a form of punishment? In regards to that, I was informed he was a game captain one week so everything I thought "maybe" about, can't be it. If those "maybe's" were the case he probably wouldn't be on the team, probably wouldn't be on special teams an important part of the game and definitely never would be awarded as a game captain. So what's stopping this kid from getting his chance to ball?

I address this topic, one..because I want to see Lloyd compete at the best of their abilities as a whole. If they didn't need to improve in an area and if the kid didn't possess traits that could help them, there would be no substance here. Second...I don't want to see them give up a 20 point second half playoff lead again because of secondary depth like last year. Three...I don't want to see a kid be ran out of Lloyd because a kid like that will find his chance somewhere and if he were to leave after the season there's no way that Lloyd doesn't lose another integral player on the team that would also leave with him.

At this point half way through the regular season I don't see much changing in the secondary. Lloyd's lapses in the secondary won't be shown again after this week until the playoffs because no one else on the schedule has the ability to throw the ball consistently. I hope they have their issue fixed by round 2.

I don’t know what your other Lloyd connections told you. But for this Lloyd guy, this happens.  I don’t know why. But I’ve seen this scenario more than a couple times. Hope the kid gets the shots he deserves. Go Juggs!

I lied. Bourbon County is a well balanced good football team. Real curious to see how bad they beat Scott.

Back to the game tonight. I think  Depperschmidt keeps Lloyd's run game in check and pressure on Evan's but Lloyd finds a way to come out on top. Which is what Lloyd needs to see from themselves. Can they find a way to win when its rough.

Lloyd 28-21.
