The football Gods have blessed us with one heck of opening week matchup in Class 1A.  The Defending Class 1A Champions Sayre will host powerhouse Kentucky Country Day who returns almost everyone from last season. The Bearcats lost a slobber knocker to Raceland in the state semifinals 14-0. They are going to be very hungry to start the 2025 season. An opening win on the road against Sayre on the Spartans home field will be huge and give Kentucky Country Day big confidence going forward. Sayre will be replacing every starter offensively except all of its offensive line. But they will look to lean on its defense until the offense improves. 
 

Who wins this Class 1A Showdown? Does Kentucky Country Day come out and make a statement? Does Sayre show the 1A world they aren’t going away?

Sayre lost a lot of talent to say the least. KCD is the better team this season and I don’t see a way Sayre makes up for their losses especially early in the season.

Sayre will be very challenged this game with everyone they lost last season. I think KCD likely wins by at least two touchdowns. 

Nice 1A matchup for Week 1.

This is a very compelling matchup. I have KCD Winning in a 21-14 thriller. 

Sayre lost some skills players but those trenches are still strong. Don't be surprised when Sayre wins this game Friday.

Sayre will need to lean on its defense early in the season until its offense gets up to speed. Sayre will need to get stops and force some turnovers. I expect KCD to pound the rock Friday. I expect no more than 7 pass attempts from them. If they have more then Sayre has did its job and this will be a close game until the end.
