Co-founder of the iconic band The Beach Boys passes at 82 according to his family.

Thought by some to be one of the greatest musical minds of the last 100 years. Created a sound that was unique to American music at the time, with harmonies and musical progressions not seen elsewhere on the US music charts.

This one stings.  Truly a musical genius.  Led The Beach Boys to great heights with songs about surf, cars and girls.  Fans and bandmates turned on him when he wanted to write works with deeper meaning and those did not gain the deserved recognition until far to late in his life.   Pet Sounds remains, IMO, the finest record ever made in the rock genre.  Brian's tortured soul is finally at rest.  All the Beach Boy Wilsons are gone now.  May they all Rest in Peace.

"God only Knows" is one the best and most beautiful songs ever written.

Gives me chills every time I hear it. I’ve listened to it probably 10 times since his passing and rocked out for an hour to The Beach Boys on my road trip yesterday.

Sir Paul McCartney called it the perfect song.  His favorite song.

If you've ever seen the end of the film Love Actually, it was used to absolute perfection.

One of my favorite movies ever! And it’s incredibly perfect, as you describe.

And of course when the BBC launched their music channel, what song did they choose to promote it,
