Figured we could have a thread to keep up with the flooding this weekend. Listening to a press conference here in Louisville right now, flooding could be as bad as it's been since 1997. 

 

 

That crest would be 23 feet above what is considered normal in Downtown Louisville. 

The Ohio River in Cincinnati is expected to crest at 60 feet on Monday.  Flood stage is 52 feet.  Flood gates are being installed for the first time since 2018.

Butler and Falmouth are being ask to evacuate today, poor folks of Falmouth,  they lost alot of there town from flooding once before and also been hit with a tornado once, if not twice, prayers for those folks in Pendelton County. 

KY counties currently under flood warning (per Cincinnati tv) are Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Mason, Owen, Pendleton, Robertson. Basically the entire broadcast area. 

It's bad in Frankfort. 

The Kentucky River is not forecast to crest at 49.5 feet Monday morning, which would be the worst flood in recorded history in Frankfort. At 50 feet, the water would begin to come over the flood walls in certain parts of town. 

Evacuations are currently underway in parts of downtown. I will post some pictures in a bit.

A potentially dangerous situation developing. 

Reports have come out that 10 gates at Dix Dam were "accidentally" opened, releasing large amounts of water into the already swollen Kentucky River.

Carrollton Mayor Robb Adams said in a Facebook live he’d been told by the Kentucky Emergency Management office that 10 gates at Dix Dam had been accidentally opened and were not able to be closed. “If you’re on the Kentucky River corridor anywhere, and you’re seeing this video, you need to evacuate,” Adams said. “You need to evacuate immediately.”

In an interview with the Herald-Leader, Adams confirmed he’d talked to the emergency management office around noon Sunday, and to his knowledge, the gates at Dix Dam haven’t been closed or cannot be closed. The emergency management office warned it could bring higher water than ever recorded along the Kentucky River, he said.

This has been clarified. All numbers in forecasting crests include the scheduled releases at Dix Dam. 

Ludlow’s football field is now under water.
