ChickenWyngz Posted March 17, 2025 Posted March 17, 2025 The time has finally come for the 10th region to conclude their tournament. While there have been scheduling issues with Rupp Arena, it is essential for the Kentucky High School Athletic Association to improve its planning to avoid these problems in the future. Athletes faced long breaks, sometimes waiting a week or more between games. As spring sports start, with baseball teams throwing their first pitches, athletes who primarily focus on baseball or track may still be waiting for basketball season to end. This situation is concerning and needs to be addressed this off-season, IMO. Regarding the games, I believe the semi-final matchups tonight are quite predictable. Montgomery is likely to defeat Mason County with relative ease, while Nicholas County's impressive season will come to a close at the hands of GRC. This scenario sets the stage for the highly anticipated rematch between Montgomery County and GRC, a matchup that has generated excitement throughout the 10th region. Their previous two encounters were thrilling contests, with each team securing a victory. While the extended break may prove disadvantageous for Montgomery County, which has been performing at an exceptional level, I believe the Indians will ultimately prevail in another closely contested game. Anyone making the trip down that can provide feedback? 1
sweet16 Posted March 17, 2025 Posted March 17, 2025 A simple solution for this year would have been starting the season a week earlier. It's crazy some have to wait 2 weeks to play and others wait a week in between regional games. Also, the ones that play baseball have to miss up to 2 weeks of games.

Yeah, they could have been throwing already, etc. but they won't be game-ready. I also think about the coaches. What a miserable spot to be in. Were the basketball kids able to get through a full tryout? Do you start your season short-handed? Do you keep extra kids just because it'll be a while before basketball gets out? If they weren't able to tryout, how do you look at a kid and tell them they're cut when other kids still have yet to try out?

The good thing in Kentucky, is that the only games that matter are district games, and you can play up to 36 in a season. Even if your basketball guys aren't ready until early April, they might only miss 6-8 games, and likely less with the way weather is in March and the beginning of April. As far as roster choices, no you don't keep extra guys. For the most part, at least at the varsity level, tryouts are a formality. Tryouts really only occur at the freshman level, because your Varsity level is pretty much set. If you're missing a few guys, you pull up some JV guys who will likely be floating for much of the year anyway. That being said, I've felt that Kentucky needs to cut the number of games that Basketball and Baseball play, and that baseball shouldn't start until March 1st, with the first games in the last week of March, 1st week of April. Weather sucks in March for baseball. 1
The Professor Posted March 17, 2025 Posted March 17, 2025 Is the 10th region being streamed by any service? If not I’d like to at least get a audio broadcast of the games. Our 14th region had three different streaming services carrying the games.
Coaches Fan Posted March 18, 2025 Posted March 18, 2025 For audio broadcasts, go on the internet and enter Gateway Radio Works. Then click on either WWKY-990AM or WMST-1150AM. You may be able to pick these up on your radio as well. 1
