Football at Danville is a way of life. No basketball coach will be able to come into there and take away from football. This is why 2 of the last 3 basketball coaches have been unsuccessful. When you try and make kids play basketball all summer at Danville, you won't get the best athletes away from football.

The next basketball coach at Danville has to realize this and accept this. Coach McKinney did and look what he did with the program. As for Harp not caring about basketball, it is not his job to recruit the kids and make an environment for them to succeed. In 1990 he was a knew Coach at Danville and was still trying to make his mark. After 6 more state championships and 2 runner ups I think his mark is made.

As for Roscoe, unfortunately he was asked to leave because of other issues in 1990, not because of Coach Harp.

Why can't kids do both? Boyle Co. had some football players that played basketball, and in the summer those kids were in the gym, and probably on the field also. But they were encouraged to do both by Coach Smith. If Danvilles basketball players are only on the football field in the summer, while the other 12th region teams are in the gym, then they will always be a bottom 5 program.

Roscoe would be a fit. Danville has alot fast food places to eat. Roscoe could pick another 120 lbs. He would rather eat, because everyone know he can't coach.
