Caverna takes down Larue County on their home court ending Larue's run of 8 straight district titles and trips to the region tournament.

This was always going to be one of the best District matchups in the Commonwealth.  The Green - Caverna final has the same potential.

Quite the run for Larue Co.

Was an absolutely fantastic high school basketball game. Larue made a great run to get back in the game and cut the deficit to 10 at the half. It looked early on that Caverna would run Larue out of the gym. But Larue battled back and had a manageable deficit at the half. 

Caverna slowed down their offense in the third quarter, that didn't make much sense to me. Caverna is at their best when they are running. A few empty trips for Caverna and all of a sudden Larue was back in the game. 

The last 2 minutes of the game were incredible. What looked like a sure turnover on a pass for Caverna ended up getting tipped around and resulted in the ball going in to give Caverna a 4 point lead. Larue promptly hit a 3 to cut it to 1 with about 20 seconds to go. 

Larue fouled to send Caverna to the line and they hit 1 of 2. Larue drive to the basket resulted in a foul with about 6 seconds to go. The Hawks missed the first free throw so they intentionally missed the second throw, but the shooter left the line early resulting in a turnover and Caverna to throw it in. Then Caverna threw it away on the inbounds pass to set up one last attempt for the Hawks and their last second shot from the corner came up short. 

It was a great game with a fantastic environement!!
