The Double Deuce Posted February 23 Posted February 23 We have reached the District Tournaments -- felt like this season flew by. I appreciate those of you that have been frequent readers, contributors, and supporters of NKY Girls' High School Basketball this season. The only reason we do this is to help provide some attention on these hard-working young ladies that deserve all of the posts / threads / and game attendees that they can get! The only real "wow" win for NKY this week was Dixie knocking off KY #5 (and likely 11th Region finalist), Franklin County. Sounds like a crazy last 7:46 as the Colonels finished the game on a 16-1 run! What a win for our 9th Region Coach of the year, Joel Steczynski and his team! Way to represent the area! You'll see the district match-ups below, and in some cases I presume a winner to show match-ups down the road, please know that I mean no offense to those teams that I assume won't win their semi-final. Just want to give people a view of what is likely to happen so everyone can plan on which games to attend around the area later this week! Thanks again for a great season, and good luck to everyone this week in their District Tournaments, and for our finalists, onto their respective Regions starting as early as this next Sunday at NKU for the 9th. 1. The Double Deuce Posted February 24 Author Posted February 24 Bishop Brossart at Scott at 6:00 tonight, and Walton-Verona vs Grant County at Williamstown at 7:00 tonight, two amazing elimination games to kick-off the week! I'm likely heading to W-V vs Grant County, but not sure yet which one I'll end up attending for sure. The 7:00 start time suits my work scheduled better! Hope both gyms are packed and loud!!! Good luck to all 4 teams. 1
The Double Deuce Posted February 24 Author Posted February 24 To be fair and critical, I want to show where I had each team before the season and then how far off I had them (up or down) -- only fair to point out where I was off. 1. Cooper -- had them #1, so exactly right. 2. Simon Kenton -- had them #4, so I was off by two (too low). 3. Dixie -- had them #8, whew, sorry Joel. I was off by 5 (too low). 4. Notre Dame -- had them #2, so I was off by two (too high). 5. Holy Cross -- had them #3, so I was off by two (too high). 6. Campbell County -- had them #6, so exactly right. 7. Highlands -- had them #5, so I was off by two (too high). 8. Bishop Brossart -- had them #7, so I was off by one (too high). 9. Walton-Verona -- had them #11, so I was off by two (too low). 10. Grant County -- had them at #13, so I was off by three (too low). 11. NewCath -- had them at #10, so I was off by one (too high). 12. Scott -- had them at #12, so I was exactly right. 13. Ryle -- had them at #9, so I was four off (too high). 14. St. Henry -- had them at #14, so I was exactly right. 15. Conner -- had them at #15, so I was exactly right. Dixie and Grant County, I apologize! 1
Runcible Owl Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Another season, another terrific group of girls. It's been fun following your play and I'm looking forward to some great tourneys. Thanks @The Double Deuce for your coverage, and to all who watched the teams and contributed in the girls' hoops forum. I appreciate your insights from afar. Earlier in the season 22, you asked for the Massey Ratings for NKY, and if I may I'll drop the Professor's final regular season statewide rankings link here. 🔗 masseyratings.com/KY_Girls Six NKY teams finished in the Top 25 and twelve in the 1st quartile, or best 70 in the Bluegrass. Estimating here that there aren't a better six neighboring districts in the state. Three Kentucky All 'A' Classic teams came from this group too! 1. Cooper (KY 4), 2. Simon Kenton (5), 3. Notre Dame (10), 4. Holy Cross (14) 5. Dixie (16) 6. Highlands (24), 7. Brossart (34) 8. Campbell Co. (38), 9. Ryle (52) 10. Scott (57) 11. Walton-Verona (64), 12. Grant Co. (65) 13. New Cath, 14. Conner, 15. St. Henry 16. Bellevue, 17. Lloyd, 18. Beechwood, 19. Ludlow, 20. Dayton 21. Villa Madonna, 22. Newport, 23. Boone Co, 24. Holmes, 25. Williamstown 1 1
The Double Deuce Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 The big elimination game of the day is Ryle and Conner at Boone County at 7:30. Good luck to both teams. I think Ryle wins with Jae back, but it has been so long since Conner made the Region, hard not to be pulling for Coach Gambrel and the Cougars.

The Holy Cross Beechwood game is tonight, and if HC wins, the HC vs NDA game on Thursday will be broadcast on HC radio. Per the scoreboard, it looks like there is a 7:30 start time for both. https://vcloud.blueframetech.com/holycross/widget?I'd=145
