School maintenance only mows the grass for both fields.  The problem with the football field is that it needs to be re-graded and drained while baseball does not have that issue (besides left field).  School maintenance can’t regrade land. 

Sorry, just remember the outfield being very well maintained vs. your football field description as a “cow pasture”.  Agreeing the football team deserves better, unfortunately July is too late to address the crown and poor grass quality.  Maybe next year?
