I understand that the conference championship game on October 25 at Dunbar will be Corbin versus Woodford. Not sure how it works because there are still a couple of regular season games to go on the schedule.

As it currently stands heading into Week 8 of the 9-week regular season, both Woodford County and Corbin are the only undefeated teams in their respective divisions. Both teams still have 2 games remaining of inter-pool play.

In the North Division, Tates Creek has the ability to improve to 5-2 in the next two weeks and Franklin County has the ability to improve to 5-1, but even in the unlikely circumstances that Woodford County drops both of their next two games (Lafayette & Henry Clay), I believe the fact that they beat both Franklin County and Tates Creek in their divisional games would put them in the conference championship.

Similarly in the South Division, George Rogers Clark is likely to win their next two games and improve to 6-1 and Dunbar has the opportunity to finish the regular season at 5-2, but even if Corbin loses their next two games (Tates Creek & Franklin County), I think Corbin's wins over both GRC and PLD in their divisional games will also put Corbin in the conference championship.

North Division:
(5-0) Woodford County
(3-1) Franklin County
(3-2) Tates Creek
(2-2) Lexington Catholic
(1-4) Western Hills
(0-6) Shelby County

South Division:
(5-0) Corbin
(4-2) Paul Laurence Dunbar
(4-1) George Rogers Clark
(2-3) East Jessamine
(1-4) Lafayette
(0-5) Henry Clay

Only Divisional Games Count toward the standings and who plays on Championship Saturday.  Inter-divisional games count for the overall League Record, but only divisional records count toward the Championship Saturday.

We have one more Divisional Game that will decide who plays on Saturday, October 25.  Franklin County and Lexington Catholic play on the 13th.  If Franklin County wins, then the standings would be as follows.

Woodford 1st
Franklin County 2nd
Tates Creek 3rd

If Lexington Catholic Wins, we would have a three way tie for 2nd.  Catholic, Tates Creek and Franklin County would all have 3-2 Records.  Here is the way we would solve the tiebreaker:
Point Differential in Head-to-Head Games
Calculate points scored minus points allowed only in the games among the tied teams.
Example:
  • Team A beat B 21–14 (+7) and lost to C 14–10 (–4) → +3
  • Team B lost to A (–7) and beat C 17–10 (+7) → 0
  • Team C beat A (+4) and lost to B (–7) → –3
    Ranking: A (+3), B (0), C (–3)

Here is the set up for Championship Saturday
3rd Place Game:  11:00 am
PLD vs #3 from North
2nd Place Game:  2:00 pm
GRC vs #2 From North
1st Place Game:  5:30 pm
Woodford vs Corbin  (Corbin is the home team and will be in home uniforms.  Woodford will be in White)

More details to come for Championship Saturday.  I will need rosters for your teams.  The games will be livestreamed by Big Things Ky and live on Hudl.

I'll doublecheck everything once @pldcoachj gets things updated to his schedule and standings document on Google, but it looks like Tates Creek beat Corbin 13-8 in inter-pool play, George Rogers Clark beat Western Hills 18-16 in inter-pool play, per @WOFOJP61 Woodford County beat Lafayette 21-0 in inter-pool play, and I haven't seen anything as of yet for the Franklin County vs. Lexington Catholic game.

Championship Saturday is set for October 25th!

Week 9 Games: Oct 20

The championship today should be a good one, Woodford and Corbin only have a couple of common opponents and both were very close games.

Game 1:

Dunbar 20

Tates Creek 18
