I'm not sure if it really matters who the DC is with the amount of $$ they are going to have tied up on the offensive side of the ball.  The Bengals have to be kicking themselves right now for not extending Chase last offseason.  IMO, it'll cost them at least an extra $10mil per.

I don't blame the Bengals for not extending Chase after last season.  He wanted #1 Receiver money, but he wasn't even top 10 in production.  What kind of sense would that make?  Now this past season showed what he's truly capable of, and I hope after he gets paid that his production doesn't suffer.

I was going to type something about the Bengals having some football sense, as everyone and their brother, knew he was a #1 WR.  But then I realized what organization I was getting ready to refer to.

Tough to produce with the backup QBs the Bengals have.  Obviously his #s are tied to Burrow.

I understand not extending, but tagging Higgins.  As he was/is injury prone.

You mean the backup QB that had over a 70% completion percentage and a 98.4 Passer Rating? Browning was #2 in completion percentage last season and #7 in Passer Rating.

With these types of debates, it’s often a question of “were they great because of qb play, or the other way around”.

I hear you on that and that's a great point.

  And if it was great WR play that made Browning, then Chase should have easily been a top 10 receiver.  And if it is that WR play making the QB play solid with Browning, then did the Bengals way overpay for Burrow?
