Danville Christian Academy 64 Pulaski County 46

DCA over Pulaski 64-46.

DCA held PC to 37 points until a couple of minutes to go when both teams emptied their benches and the Pulaski JVs hit 3-3’s.

I’ve not seen any stats yet.  The story of the game was DCA’s defense.  Pulaski was having trouble getting decent shots.

I'm eating crow.  I do think this could benefit PC if they meet again.  It's different playing that size for the first time.

I'd say that Coach Fraley will put together a good game plan if they play again.  It's just extremely rare to see that kind of size on the high school level so it's tough to adjust to it.  On top of that, they're not just long, they're both mobile for being over 6-10.  I lived out of state for a few years and didn't keep up with the 12th region but I can't recall a team having 2 guys that big.

Somerset had Jeff Dunagan at 6-8 and Mark Fothergill at 6-7 (he hadn't reached his full height of 6-9 as far as I remember).  I'm probably missing someone but they were the biggest pair of players I watched play in the 12th.

I can't recall another Twin Tower Duo, and I've been around the region my whole life.  I think these teams that choose not to play DCA will ultimately be at a disadvantaged if they meet them for the first time in tournament play.  Impossible to simulate until you see it.

Maybe Dennis Johnson and Julius Yeast at Harrodsburg in the mid- to late-1990s.

Were they both 6"10?  A really good duo, Hburg had some studs!

No, both around 6'6". I was just saying they're about the tallest duo I can remember. I've been around the region for almost 40 years and I can't remember anyone having size that matches what DCA has this season.

And a really, really good duo!

Last Class A school to win the overall region was Harrodsburg in ‘96.  A lot of good small schools since then have fell short.

Yes. Harrodsburg lost the final in 1997, Danville in 2002, 2019, and 2020, Somerset in 2013 and 2024. All terrific teams

The streak ends this year IMO.

Heard that DCA had another kid come in that had been Home schooled and can shoot the ball?

Correct.  Bluegrass United's best player.  Not sure of the rules as far as eligibility, or if there are any rules for that matter anymore. ?
