Big Time!

But the bigger question is will Pikeville bounce back this year?  7-6 last year.  How far back do we need to go to find a season that bad for the Panthers?

Here is some team record going back to the last year of the 4 Class Era.

2024 7-6
2017 8-5
2012 7-6
2010 8-5
2009 6-6
2008 7-6
2007 9-4
2006 8-4

They can't help the district games... I disagree on Pikeville and Beechwood, I don't want to play a team four hours away that is really good the week before I go into the playoffs and for Beechwo

With the schedule Pikeville is looking at this season, and taking into account the amount of players lost to graduation, and two good linemen transferring to Johnson central, I really don't think a better finish is in the future this season for the Panthers. Pikeville has some real good young talent but we won't see the benefits of that this season. Jmo. Talented Freshmen and Sophomores are just not going to get it when you look at the out of district and upcoming rigorous schedule. A new quarterback that's very good for the style he's adept at (totally different from Isaac Mcnamee or Isaac Duty). Shorter in height, a very proficient passer, and very quick. Should be a totally different look than what we've seen for the past eight or ten years. Give this team another year or two and they will be back. These Freshmen coming in just won the eighth grade championship and were undefeated against some very competition. Going back to this season, both sides of the line looks to be a weak area. The jury will be out this season, especially early on, but hopefully this team will look better come playoff time.

Love the look?

I like JJ Reynolds alot at QB. Believe he will progress pretty well and do a good job for the Panthers.  Well-coached young teams in a tradition-rich programs will grow by leaps & bounds in a season. By October, Pikeville will have a pretty good football team and very much be in the conversation to win it all.

On a side note, Coach McNamee is underrated. He has some advantages(some of which he helped to create), but he also has alot to navigate, and it is his hometown. Chris knows how to make things go at Pikeville. His consistency & success over the long haul are beyond impressive.

Exactly. He's all Pikeville and wouldn't trade him for anyone. If anyone can get the best out of his players, its him. The man has a great supporting cast too.?

Think this year will be a bridge year for Pikeville and then the Panthers see big strides next season and are right back as a potential Title Favorite by 2027.

If you are a 1A team this is the year to try and take aim. Pikeville will be tough next year and absolutely loaded by next post season moving forward.

Pikeville may very well start 0-5 with that schedule. Cabell Midland struggled a little last year but that is still a big 6A school equivalent and Pikeville will be having to do some significant work to get the wrinkles out with so many new faces. Southwestern will also be a toss-up and it wouldn't surprise me if both Raceland and Hazard enter the year as slight favorites.

I will say 4-6 as a prediction for 2024.. but once again... don't get comfortable expecting Pikeville to stay like that. Worst Case is 3-7, I could see 5-5 but don't think it is likely and 6-4 would be a dream scenario where Pikeville gets an upset and gets some breaks their way.

One thing I am very curious to see is how Pikeville addresses their Special Teams play. Usually Mac gets positive gains in Special Teams most seasons but last year to say Pikeville was bad in that department would be an understatement.

From what I'm hearing, Pikeville special teams are looking up so far. As long as this team can avoid the injury bug and be mentally tough in some early season losses, it could pay dividends in the playoffs. You said it right ATLCat. This is the year to take the Panthers and there could be some surprises, but after this season the Panthers could "catch lightning in a bottle".
