Super Division

Featured Replies

Does anyone but me feel that with all the displeasure with selections and automatic playoff berths in the 12 team format that we are getting closer to many programs forming a Super Division that compete for the national championship?

I think we need the best "power ratings/rankings" and the top 16 teams get in and beyond that no human involvement.  Otherwise, there is always going to be beefs.

The worst thing that could happen for the current system would be for a 9-12 seed to make a run to the finals or even win it.

The best thing that could happen for those wanting to immediately increase to 16 teams, would be for a 9-12 seed to make a run to the finals or even win it.

If we get chalk, then the move to 16 will take a few more years.

Selecting those 16 teams and what criteria is used will ensure there will be complaining each and every year. The problem is no one can agree on how to pick those teams.

If we go to a super division then we are automatically writing off all now power conference schools and possibly Notre Dame. I want a more open playoff process not a closed old boys club approach where only power 4 teams get in.

This!  Bump it to 16 teams and make it as objective as possible, something we all mostly agree on before the games are played in 2025 and then the computer does what the computer does, no human anything with the good old boys approach.

And I am still down for a 17-32 version too.  That would be way better than the miscellaneous bowl games that don't mean a thing.

I think 16 is plenty. That would mean two teams play 16 games. Do away with the conference championship games!!

I think 16 is plenty too, I mean a separate "NIT Like" 17-32 tournament.

I like the conference championship games, even though with expansion further to 16 they mean less. Conference Championship Games are compelling as in many years it may be the only time the top teams in a conference actually see each other. I like having a definitive conference champion in each conference.

The “more” approach has been very successful with hoops and would be as successful with the pigskin!!
